is it impossible to get the rear tires loose on a C4? or just difficult?

My wife managed to spin our C4S at Sebring last time just to prove to me that it could be done.

It all depends on the setup. On a stock car, with street tires and street alignment, you can break the end loose much like a C2, difference being that eventually the front grabs and pulls you out.

On a car with autocross alignment and tires, the car simply grips like its on rails.

Alignment has a huge effect. You can have the back end loose at 20mph at half throttle if you want.

Let's get back on topic. There's another '96 C4S still unsold on Pelican (listing is still in cars for sale if you scroll down a bit) that has 57K miles, and asking price is $ 42K. Also looks like a decent car, but haven't seen it. So, are all 993 values softening?

Yes,
by most accounts all 993's are about worthless!
are you buying one?

Count me as the second of the two in a million...I would look for C4S over C2S any time, especially if the prices are in close proximity. And there is at least a #3 in a million somewhere....

I don't like the split grille, but some people are actually getting the split grille to put on their C2, C4, or C4S.

C4S also has the Turbo brakes and suspension. C2S does not. Not that anyone really should think only the Big Reds will save their behinds while the standard blacks won't, but then again "think" and "actual needs" have little to do with desirability. How many out there are posting about "How do I paint my brakes Big Red" or "Who's got Big red calipers for sale...."

For us living in the wetter and colder climes, including you in Montreal, C4S does offer advantages that C2 and C2S do not.

If he dropped his price to $37k, it would be gone.

My guess is that it will sell for around $40k. Which is about what the car that started this thread would sell for given a knowledgable seller and a knowledgable buyer.

Distracting? Like - " i crashed into a tree becuse I was distracted by that crazy middle line"

It's hardly one in a million. The C4S commands a higher price since it is more desirable. Let's set up a poll to see what's more desireable and we'll see just how close your one in a million is.

People change for the split ?? Uh, no.

Well, the current poll shows 8 to 4 in favor of the C4S. I guess that blows your "one in a million" theory.

Currently, you poll has 22 people (62.86%) voting for the C2S, while only 13 people (37.14%) have voted for the C4S.

Also, FWIW, you can break loose the rear of a track set-up C4S, as you can with any car, FWD, RWD or AWD. Any car that handles like it's on rails is not being driven hard enough.

I have no horse in this race (have a C2), but I prefer the liveliness and purity of a RWD 911.

You just said in your poll, money aside. So why are you telling me that C4S command a higher price and btw, where did you get that?? Even with high miles, I don't think you'll find a C2S in the mid 30s like we have been seeing more and more with the C4S.
