Default Opinions: DAS vs. Porsche Roll Bar?

Will be switching out my harness bar to a roll bar for a little more protection.

What's the consensus about fit/quality/value on Porsche Tequipment roll bar vs. DAS?

Thx in advance for suggestions.

I didnt know a Tequipment bar exists for the 993. I would like to see one to check it out.

I have a DAS for my coupe -- other than some post weld movement, and once its bolted in, it fits well.

I have no complaints about my DAS roll Bar. It is my second. Haven't seen a Porsche one. Sounds expensive, but I am sure also well made.

Thumbs up for the DAS. Although TheOtherEric isn't crazy about the design, most seem to like it. Mine fit fairly well (needed a bottle jack to spread the rear legs) and is legal for PCA racing, at least as of this writing. Also, you can buy them used for about $700-$800, depending on if it needs to be painted, which I think is quite a good value.

Is the Tequipment bar club racing legal? If not, resale will be more difficult.

I recently installed a DAS bar. Agree that once it is in it is pretty good. NO drilling required, which was a plus for me.

For me the biggest downside is that it cuts off so much rear visibility. I am about 6' and like to sit fairly upright. I find I can only see 50 feet behind me. I have to scrunch down, or nod my head to see further back. I don't know how other bars do in that area. The DAS is fairly thick, and the sunroof version I have leave a fair margin of space between it and the roof. I wonder if a non-sunroof version would have been able to fit in there....

The DAS bar weights a ton, there is no tequipment bar, there was a Matter bar suplied with the clubsport versions, the closest bar to the Matter is the Heico (probably the best bar around for these cars)., cheers, Sonny.

No drilling for Coupes. The DasSport bar for cabs requires drilling three holes on the pan of each rear footwell. No big deal though. I have fitted plugs that pop in when the bar is detached to prevent water entry. Haven't had any problems with mine and the bonus is that the cab bar doesn't appear to interfere with the aftermarket seats as much in terms of sliding the seat as far back as possible for taller drivers. Also, the cab install is extremely easy as you don't have to pull the seats out... only have to drop the cab top. I can get my bar in and out in about 20 minutes now.

Yes. No. There is no room for anyone back there, not that you should put a passenger back there with a roll bar even if there were room. Lots of guys take their bars out for street driving.

Paul,

Turn your rear view mirror so that the flip the dimmer switch is on top and all your rear view issues will be solved. When you do this the mirror actually sits a touch lower and changes the vision angle.

Yes, I've been very happy with my DAS bar - easy install/removal and is club race legal.
