OT: Followed in Robin Sun's footsteps - what Have I done!?!
Came back to PA to sort out the house and get a beater for the house etc and was looking at either a VW, Benz or Audi for that purpose. Instead, I ended up with a one owner, 2002 Range Rover HSE with 34,000miles with a 4 yr unlimited miles, bumper to bumper warranty. I went to the dealership to look at a C class station wagon and saw the Range Rover and bought it instead. It is a very clean example with solid mechanicals and good colour combo (important for the mrs).
I have had 3 Range Rovers in my time and have been one of the few lucky ones that have had no problems with them...fingers crossed!!! I hope I have not made a big mistake but given that this will be a beater that is likely only to see a max of 2mths of driving per year (when we are in town), it should be OK and the 4 yr bumper to bumper warranty eased my mind a lot, especially seeing that it covers the suspension as well.
Dealer pics attached as I just picked it up yesterday and have not taken pics yet.

I had good luck with the mechanicals on my rovers. But I finally thew in the towel after continuing annoying issues with the complexity of the systems. For instance; my pax door handle broke once when I was out in the boonies, 3 or 4 miles from the nearest road. The door sensor is in the handle, so the car thought the door was open. The suspension won't work with the door open. So, I got to drive 4 miles off road, and 100 miles home on the bump stops. Another one was when my kids left the light on in the back seat as we flew away on vacation. Come back, dead battery. No problem, I carry a jump box. Try to jump car with the box with the bonnet open, the car decides it is being stolen and enters "Superlocking" mode. Now, I was in a parking garage with 7' ceilings. Long story short it took three days to get the car out of the garage (involving the little dollies) and to a repair shop to get it started.
All of that in perspective, Rovers are great to drive. I love the way they feel, and the driving position is unique. Good luck with it.

I actually went back to Land Rover after an 8 year absence. Had a new D90 that was a big piece of poop to maintain-got rid of it after 2 years. Against my better judgement-went out and got an LR3-Love it!!! Awesome truck-no problems. Good luck with your Rover-!

let us know how it works out, I have been in the market for a "new" SUV since I sold my Excursion, too big for the wifey, Ive had Landcruisers before , BUT, the interiors are lacking even on the Lexus, and btw Range Rover just opened a stealer right down the road from me soooooo. .. tempting

Although you have a warranty, a warranty only covers you from the cost aspect of problems. If you have a lemon like my friend's RR Sport which is constantly in the shop; warranty or not the inconvenience of always dropping off your car and arranging transportation, etc. is just not worth it.

Darren,
If your radio lights up but has no sound after emitting an intolerable screech that can't be stopped even by removing the key from the ignition, let me know how you fix it. I pulled the fuse a couple years ago, put it back in and it worked for a bit until it happened again. Then r&r'ing the fuse didn't do a damn thing.

Thanks guys...fingers crossed on the car not breaking down etc but the stealer is only a couple miles from the house. I got a pretty good deal on it so I am not too worried...plus it will at most be driven 2-3 months of the year, when we are in town and need to haul stuff.

Congrat! That's a pretty color combo, looks like you got the Nav system too. I think that whole unreliable Range Rover thing is just a big meth. As long as you know how to tinker on cars the Range Rover is 10 times easier to work on than a 993, and with much more space to work with.
My Range Rover is now working good after replacing all the neccessary components to the air suspension system. Total cost of the repair? around $700 I found most all the P38 Range Rover parts to be fairly cheap compare to the 993.
So enjoy your new toy!!!
Recently just to give everythign a good excercise I toook her off road. She is an amazing truck, except that I got stuck in the mud pits....
