Default How can I tell if it's a C2S or a C2 S conversion?

Hi there, was wondering about the C2S vs. a C2 with a conversion kit. I am looking at one and the only thing throwing me off is the back wheels have spacers on them. If it is a factory "s" body, then isn't the rear axle or whatever wider than the plain C2? Or does the factory C2S come with spacers anyways?

The rear axles are the same on the nb and wb cars, the wheels have different offsets to compensate the difference in width. Some C2S cars came with 17" cup II's and those didn't come in WB offsets and therefore use spacers to fill the gaps.

A conversion to a WB is a hell of a lot of work and very uncommon.

i see. so it's fair to say that i have a c2s? it's got the 18" turbo wheels on there as well. i heard there were only 709 produced, do you know what mine is worth? it is a european model (imported in 2003) which i believe is faster than u.s. models and the title is clean, not gray market, and it is carfax certified. mileage is 18k. black on black, front body kit and i just got the whole thing repainted very nicely in original porsche metallic black. (the car was in the sun alot). thanks.

Can't tell. You haven't provided any information, pictures, etc. What does the title say it is? What is the rear wheel offset (stamped near the valve) and how thick are the spacers? Does it have the Euro Turbo front bumper cover? Split grill? "S" badge? Flared rockers? Wider rear fenders? What makes you believe that it's an "S"?

+1 I'm not clear on that, either. Odd.

The first post says that he or she is looking at a car, the second post says that they have one. I think this person may be trying to figure out the value of a car that they are trying to buy or sell.

I don't know, this is confusing. Post some photos of the car and we can help ID it. If you are trying to sell a car here, become a member first.

I think he was looking to buy it at 3:27am and after all the valuable information gathered here, he went ahead and bought it at 5:26am.

And he had it painted in under 3 hours, too! Must be one of those 24 hour drive-though Earl Scheib deals....

Is that the one where they use one quartz of paint on the car and they're finished?

call 1 800 porsche, talk to the division that issues certificates of authenticity, and they will tell you.

Jim,
It's "Quarz". Look at your dash clock.

ha ha guys, sorry about the original post. i was staring at mine when i asked. i have four porsches and it just came out that way. i am looking to sell it and that is why i am asking these questions, i don't want to advertise it a certain way and not have it be so. also, i do plan on becoming a member and posting photos, i only just found this site at midnight last night.

the car is a European 1997 993. It is identicle to a turbo, and i changed the front bumper and put on a TA style turbo "s" replica front bumper with the s brake ducts and the halogen fog lamps and no bumperettes and so on. Everything on the outside looks like a turbo. the interior has silver guages that light up red (not sure if they are all like this because my 95 isn't). And the paint job is approriate for a car of this value, it's not a quartz job. any advice on it's worth?

Where was the repaint done? Quality?

Quick Reply: How can I tell if it's a C2S or a C2 S conversion?
