How can I tell if it's a C2S or a C2 S conversion?

Whatever the title says it is, it is. If the title doesn't say "S", it's not an "S". I'd wager that it's a "regular" C2 with 5 to 10 mm spacers on the rear to fill the wheel wells along with some sort of body kit, either factory or after-market.
You don't mention condition, maintenance, accident history, bodywork, etc, and it's not known which model you have, so it's impossible to even give a ballpark number, other than somewhere between $10,000 and $60,000. I'd be seriously questioning a complete re-paint after only 18,000 miles, too. If it has that much sun damage, the prior owner must have left it outside, which indicates sub-standard care for a vehicle such as this.

There's a shop I have been using for a few years for custom work. He does most of the work for lease returns for many BMW dealerships in Southern California. Maserati too. The windshield, trim, sunroof and deck lid were removed so there is minimal overspray and I have a one year warranty on it. You can tell it's been painted when you open the doors but it's good work, like a $5k paint job.

title doesn't help, in california they just put the year and the first four letters of the make, in this case 1997 pors.
i think i mentioned it in the second post. it's a 1997 RWD euro spec 993. the car is identicle to a turbo cosmetically and i always assumed it had a kit, but after the repaint, the body shop said they believe it to be a c2s and now i need to know before i sell it. it's got 18k original miles, carfax certified, and it was imported in 2003 so the service records are sparse and begin around there. car is a show stopper on the outside and an 8.5 out of 10 on the inside. everything works perfectly, no cracks or tears, it's just 10 years old and wasn't garaged it's whole life so the dash is a tad shrunken. everything else looks great. like i said before, exposure to the sun on a black on black coupe over 10 years.... what is the value if its a c2s as well if it's just a c2 with a kit?

Very weird not to have a model on the title. What's the thickness of the spacer??? (Just measure it as the car sits- close counts.) Might want to also include the option codes, too.

the spacer is about 1 and 1/8 inch thick. sorry, i don't have it in centimeters right now. no options, just pretty stock. dual airbags, leather, sunroof, alpine flip face, power seats, and ac. thats about it.
thank you very much for helping me by the way.

Not all "2S" cars had the insignia on the tach. Standard calipers are black on "2S", but Big Reds might have been an option. (Big Reds were standard on 4S and Turbo.) If you don't have an option sticker with options codes, you're in a bind as it would have only been removed if the hood was seriously damaged or replaced, meaning that the car was in a wreck. (Doesn't matter that Carfax is clean as they're not that accurate.) On the other hand, 25mm spacers on the rear wheels would indicate an "S" body IF the wheel is the standard 65mm offset. You'll need to verify with the offset (or part number) on the rear wheel.
A repaint at 18K miles is going to kill the "low mileage" premium, even if it's a great job. Sounds like the paint could have been done better, though. Did you get pictures before the car was re-painted?

In addition to the 'Carrera S' on the tach, C2S cars have other unique, std. features like the special grained leather on the dash and door panels, as well as aluminum (look?) shifter ball and handbrake.
Again 1800 Porsche and they can tell you in a 30 second conversation if you give them the vin. I got a certificate of authenticity from them a few weeks ago.

thanks, i will call 800 porsche tomorrow. there is special grained leather along the center part of the dash and door panels and the shifter and brake do have an aluminum look. looks like it's an s but i will find out for sure tomorrow. i did take a few photos before the repaint in case that should be an issue. the silver stickers are still there under the deck lid and in the door panels, i just don't know which one has the options codes on it. you guys are great, thank you for everything.
