I'm also driving up to see that ALMS race at Laguna Seca in Oct.
See you there!!! I wonder how many of us, RL are coming to this race?
We could have a little get together? No?

I've done that every year for the past five years - this is the first year that it isn't on the cards (no time - flying from Oslo to St. Tropez on Thursday)... always a total blast, although the last 4-5 hours are a RedBull/Coffee fuelled blur...

Default Vancouver to Chicago road trip

I purchased the car in Seattle, shot north into Vancouver, across Canada, and then down through Chicago before making it home to Baltimore. Tiring, yes, but well worth it. Given enough time, I would do it again in a heartbeat. The car never missed a beat and returned some decent fuel mileage as well.

I realize I'm drawing way back in history, but I am contemplating doing the Vancouver to Chicago trek in the 996 with my wife sometime this summer. We're not in a rush, but don't want to spend too long on the road either. In doing searches, all have commented on the Canadian route rather than the US route through Montana etc. Any reason? You say you would do it again, any advice? If anyone else who has done this, your insights would be appreciated as well.

Here's a trip report I did a few years ago that covers part of one possible route:

https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...ip-report.html

If I were starting from Richmond, I would head south to Sedro Wooley and work my way east from there, through the Cascades and Lolo Pass to Missoula, and then 200 to Great Falls from there.

The Canadian route, east of the foothills, for the section north of Montana is not very interesting.

Have fun.

SF Bay Area to Montreal....and back.

Highway 80 there.

Highway 40 back.

About 6,200 miles - and 26 states.

1,300 miles....from Denver to LA...the day I bought the car. Closed the deal, went to the gas station to fill it up, and hit the road. Pure bliss.

These cars are a bit older now than the original post, anyone do any recent long distance trips? I'm thinking of one this summer (2200 miles).

Just did Raleigh NC to Sebring FL for the 12-hour and then drove all over FL while I was there (my family still lives in FL). All total, including the return trip to Raleigh, I logged about 1,800 miles. And to jinx myself, I'll say that the car ran like a fine watch!!!
