Default lowering a 993 to Euro specs

I accidentally posted this in the 911 section, instead of 993...

I just read a thread about the significance of lowering to Euro specs, which made me start thinking again about doing it to my 993 cab. It's obviously not a track car, and other than blasting through the NC country roads, it really doesn't see many "high performance" driving opportunities (got 2 914 track cars for that). I just like the looks. We have 2 C4S's in stock in our showroom, both with the same aero kits (Turbo S tail, etc). One is lowered, one is not. The lowered one looks phenominal, the other looks normal.

So, my question is: what's the best way to lower it? I really don't want to go out and buy all new suspension and all just for the looks aspect. Can I use my stock shocks, and just put new springs, like H&R, then align and corner balance? If so, what does everyone recommend for a 95 993?

thanks for the help.

You stock shocks are shot. Yup, no matter what, your 12 year old shocks don't have life in them anymore--you won't believe me until you swap them out and feel the "after".

That being said, the typical way to get to euro height is:

1) Install Bilstein HD shocks with MO30 springs
2) Install Bilstein HD shocks with MO33 springs

Option #1 is a "sport" spring set up, which is a bit more rigid than the stock suspension. Option #2 is a standard type spring, that permits Euro ride height with your current ride quality (albeit new).

Cool

I intend to use my STOCK springs and install Bilsteins HD's which are adjustable. There's a tremendous amount of info in the SEARCH section of this forum on this very information-rich topic. I am an oddball in that I like the relatively 'high' ride height from a dd standpoint.

Yeah, I know they're shot.
I actually have a set of almost never used stock shocks that I can use (5000 miles on them). Again, in the interest of saving some $$ (I have to replace the motors and transmissions to the top....talk about $$$!!) Plus, right now all my extra funds go to the race cars and Targa Newfoundland budgets.

I would say either M033 or MO30 with Bilstien HD's, sway bars, Gert Protection Bar. The M033 I believe is a softer ride.

Mine is lowered between Sport and RS.....134f/117r...........smooth ride.

Ideally you would go w/ new HDs, M030 and sways like InTheAir said, but if you have some used shocks w/ a lot of life in them, you can save a boat load of cash by getting M030, H&R, or Eibachs (what I have) springs for $300-400 use your existing sways and the lightly use shocks mentioned, DIY install, align and the total would be $500-600 vs $2500-3500.

Again not the ideal setup, but not a bad option either.

Good luck

Hey 95 C4 993, do you have any scraping problems with that height? I like that look.

Put it this way, get a Gert Protection Bar.

I have scrapped a few times but nothing major. I just take things at more of an angle. The few times I have, its been my fault. Trying to get out at an angled slope at the post office or grocery store for example. Not taking my time and rush to get out before traffic comes. And, cats tend to get tangled up more under the car more than they used to.
