Thanks Steve and Mark for your feedback.
My Car is 95 993 which i bought when i was in the states (CA).
the odometer stopped @ 188K, i believe it has a good 230Kmiles by now.
replaced the fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, added the additives and 98 RON fuel.

The CAT has a plug for where the O2 sensor should be. and i remember the mechanic has asked me if i want to remove the cat converter. It was at least 4-5 years ago when it was modified so i can barely remember. but the welds on both sides of the CAT seem to confirm that.

The current problem is the car seems to give more noise than movement when it hits the 4K rpm mark.

could it be fuel injectors? Clutch or FW?

PS. I noticed that the fresh air trumpet is missing and thus the flap it fits to is closed.(is that a problem)

thanks again for your help

You are quite welcome,...

As part of a proper tuneup and to help establish a baseline (especially important with high-mileage cars), I would replace caps, rotors, and wires. Further, you need to make certain that the distributor drive belt is not broken. Pull the lower distibutor cap and see if the rotor turns freely or not, then look VERY carefully at the edge of the belt. At 188K, belt replacement is LONG overdue.

Watch oxysensor voltages (using a Hammer or PST-2) to make sure that its cycling. If the sensor has more than 50K on it or you have no documentation about when it was last replaced, put in a new one.

If your oxysensor is missing,........you have a problem. These cars MUST run closed-loop so if this is the case, pull the cat and carefully inspect the substrate since it might be all melted. If its been gutted or bypassed, you need too find this out for sure.

If the RPM's match vehicle speeds in the higher gears, your clutch should OK but thats an easy test. Put it in 5th gear at 2K and accelerate briskly; if the RPM's don't increase faster than your speed, its fine.

Take a picture of the airbox and send it to me,...

Hope this helps a bit,

I'm starting to hate mine too!

I'm spending all my free time taking the car to the shop and looking for answers on Rennlist and Pelican..Why is it that at the two shops I've been to, they cannot figure out what the fukk is wrong with my car!!!!!

Really fukking frustrating...

I don't know where you live or what problems you've been having, however I'd spend some time finding a competent shop in your general area, even if you need to drive some distance to get it properly diagnosed and repaired.

Honestly, there are fewer shops that know these cars than you think so its worth some effort to find the 993 knowledge base in your state.

I'd guess a vacuum connector of some sort.

thanks Andreas

searched Auto Atlanta and Pelican and could not find any pictures of the connector or flap control unit. I cannot access the area needed to view the resonance control vacuum actuator regulator. I can't even find the part on Pelican.
