Typo or Freudian slip? But to anyswer your question, I have no idea on why.

Shifting from P to **** usually involves going from standing to sitting. I am sure there are alternative methods out there, but I think that is how most tend to work as that is how they came equipped from the factory.
Here on Rennlist I think you will find that most agree that the way the factory does it is preferable most of the time, however many do modifications to factory procedure.

Could be a brake light switch or bowen cable that need adjustment.

When I see difficulty with removing the ignition key and shifting out of park it is usually associated with bowen cable out of adjustment.

The bowen cable is there as a safety device to prevent anyone from shifting the shifter when the key is not in the ignition. IMO it is a device that does nothing but leave you stuck somewhere.

The adjustment can be made under the shifter panel which require complete removal of the shifter and cover plates.

The other option is to remove it entirely, you will need to loosen the cable where it is connected to the left side of the ignition key assembly which you will have to reach from under the dash. I forgot the size of the nut, but probably something like an 8mm.

I am not sure that would work, after all, you did spell "$hit" correctly.
