Mine slipped in with only a little torqueing and swearing - no jacks or straps (hmm...that could have really rude implications ).

The last bolt was a challenge so I used a longer cheater bolt at the left rear seatbelt hole to pull the bar into place then removed that bolt and put the correct, shorter one in.

I did not Dremel a notch, I just reefed the bolt tight to hold the seat belt retractor vertical. All my interior is back in too besides the seatbacks.

Marc
p.s. The included instructions are pretty crappy.

I'm with Marc - no problems to write home about. Just take your time and you'll be alright. It's not a huge technical challenge. And don't let your seat belts retract all the way, it can be costly

If the seat belt retracts too far, install the belt unit in a vise pointing up. Wait for a second and then the belt should free up. Once it is out, put a clip of some sort on it to prevent retraction. It is almost impossible to hold it still enough to do this by hand. (Credit for this tip needs to go to Viper Bob.)

Thanks, I figured this one out during my first bolt in cage install on my E30 M3 back in 2000. I miss that car! Just needed a supercharger!

Let me know when you're ready to pull the trigger on those Recaros.. I'm probably going to order them in 2 weeks.

Dave,
I'm holding you accountable when the divorce papers are served! I realized yesterday during some exhilarating mountain runs the lack of support from the stock seats. I moved the seat back and locked seatbelt and moved seat forward to keep me harnessed in the seat. I'm not sure if I can wing the cost of the leather/alcantera combo I want. I'm waiting for a used set to come up. If I cant find a used set before spring, then I will have to go with new, if I have any money leftover.

Sorry, Can't wait that long Road Atlanta is requiring harness supported seats on the track (if you have harnesses). First DE is in January.
