I seem to remember similar reaction to the prototype Cayenne.

I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised when we see the production version ...

And the back end like it could be an unholy cross between a Boxster and a G6.

Cross your fingers, boys.

IHO:
Why would I buy a four door Porsche when I can buy fours doors with 6.3 ltr AMG powerplant that will blow the Porsche off the road in performance and appeal?
They re entering a market they no very little about
Another Cayenne story unfolding.

Flame suit is on: While we all appreciate and respect the air-cooled 911s, others of us need something with four doors to drive. No a Cayenne or Panamera do not compare to a 993, but they compare favorably to other cars out there. I have had the E55, M5, etc and come back to pcars. I wouldn't want just a Cayenne, but coupled with a 993 it is a great combination. I will definitely be interested in the new 4 door sedan when it comes out. H20 and all...

I don't think you need the flame suit. I'd love a 4 door pcar - the ultimate family sedan. I just hope we get a Porsche and not a "vw/porsche"

WOW, I didn't know they made a 4 door eclipse!!!

J/k. It should look better once it sheds all the cloak and dagger stuff.

Hey Mike,

While some people don't like the Cayenne ... enough people do to have made it one of Porsche's biggest successes ever. I think we will probably see similar results from the Panamera.

As far as performance is concerned, the CLS 63 AMG has 514HP at 6800 and 465 lb-ft of torque at 5200. The engine that the Panamera will allegedly inherit from the Cayenne Turbo has 500HP at 6000 and 516 lb-ft of torque at 2250-4500. I don't see a problem here. Especially if the Panamera comes in under the 4,199 lbs that the CLS weighs.

What would be the kicker is if Porsche drops the CGT V10 in the Panamera as rumored.

At the end of the day if the sale of SUVs and Sedans allow me to continue to buy my 911's ... who cares ...

Can't say that the Pepper is a thing of beauty. Then again, what SUV is?

I was a big naysayer of the Cayenne, and history has proven me wrong in a huge way. I am with Harvey , if the sale of SUVs and other less desirable cars allows me to continue to enjoy 911s... enough said.

I think that the Panamera could be a big success for Porsche, despite its looks so far....LOL

Most any SUV except the Subaru B2 Tribeca is better looking than the Cayenne....
