Default seperating transmission from engine

I am trying to seperate my transmission from my engine. Now conventional wisdom tells me I should be able to slide the trans right off the engine without having to unbolt the clutch because its just a splined shaft from the trans to clutch disc. but I don't seem to be so lucky what am I missing?

Yea that fork was a bit of a noggin scratcher for about 5 minutes. But my tranny is now with Sean Moore of SRM Performance in Stanton, CA. Engine on the floor. I think its time for a new SAI check valve.
