I have a 96 993. All years are all good cars. 96 had some suspension updates that can be applied to a 95 easily. The 993 is an ends of a long slow evolutionary cycle. Any year is probably a good year. This is my third Porsche. I put lots of miles on them. The key issue is mileage. Somewhere around 70K to 90K the car will need a clutch if driven normally. When the clutch is being replaced it is a good time to service the power steering pump and belt, replace the valve adjusters and replace the ignition wires. It may also be a good time to replace the timing chain rails. Also inspect the door check strap mountings. They go bad on all 911s way back to 911SC at least. It is a $300 to$500 fix.
So the key issue is have these things been done?
Also it is nice to run the OBDC codes and look at the engine and airbag modules for any service codes.

It would be fun to know what day your car was built. Maybe a search back to the factory?

You can get a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche with the build date of your car. Its about $100. Personally, I think its a rip off since you already know you have a real Porsche. But maybe for the 356 guys, it would be worth it.

I had two PCA judges comment to the "aftermarket" Aero kit on my car.
Neither realized it was a $7,200 factory offering in 1997 until I show them the COA. I didn't win my class, but they got a little more enlightened about a 993.
Plus, it may serve as a selling tool when (if) you were to sell your car. Some prospective buyers are very interested in what it came from the factory.
I believe the current price for one is $125.00 from PNA.

It's all been said already I guess...but I am just so excited to have my (96) 993. The most important thing to me is the condition and history, although the simplicity of the 95's and the best-of 98's are appealing. I feel like I am part of something way bigger than me and that is why I always have Porsches. I would like a full-house of 993's...one of each model.
