I spent nearly an 1/2 hour with the Porsche person discussing the errors on my recently received Certificate of Authenticity.
The most glaring error was they had my interior color as Savanna Beige. WRONG! Black it is.
They also missed the factory installed carbon fiber shifter and e-brake.
The noted Technic pacakge was not supposed to be on the the C of A either.
They also called the Litronic headlights Xenon on the C of A.
She apologized several times for the errors and said it will be corrected and sent to me again in the very near future.
I would have thought that for $100 it would be highly accurate and complete.
Any one else found any errors on your C of A?

Mine shows a black interior, black exterior, with blue floor mats. I have what I believe are the original black floormats. In fact, the original mats are hard to come by, so I am pretty sure that the C of A is wrong. Who did you call to get it fixed?

As an aside, the fact that it can be changed with a phone call makes it a pretty worthless document.

All the COA is in reality is a printout from the option codes on a pretty piece of Porsche paper. Unfortunately, some of the option codes have changed over the years, so you will find 996 options on your 993 COA, and so forth, because what might have been "cruise control" on a 95 could be "something else" on a 2004. It's even more confusing with packages, because they change year to year as well.

I'd be surprised if they can correct it; if you call over the phone and they give you the option codes for your 993, they are frequently wrong and the usual response is, "Huh?"

Well, if they were reliable, their value would be in establishing the originality of your car.

They said it can be corrected. They blamed it on some software glitches in the system.
Not the end of the world, but I did want a corrected copy just the same.

The C of A on my newly aquired car states that my car has motorsound. It doesn't, so it was either removed or was never there. But that is the only error.

How does one go about ordering a Certificate of Authenticity?

I have one for my Cayenne S which the dealer gave to me when I bought the car, but I'd like to obtain one for my 993 (which I bought from the original owner).

Is this the same as a "Cardex"? Some concours competitions require them, I guess to see if your car has what it's supposed to, or doesn't have something it's not. But if they're inaccurate, that wouldn't work very well, would it?

I thought about getting one of these back when I first got my 993. For me, it would be useless because I no longer have a regular old 993 cab, it's been heavily modified.

Either way, now that I have learned about their errors on these C of A's, they don't seem worth the money.

Mine said I had auto dimming mirrors. I don't believe I do. At least the inside rear view is not.

Haven't driven at night yet to see if the exterior ones are.

They also named my interior different then on the window sticker.

Fixed via a couple emails, new one sent out free of charge.

I agree, I think they are pointless. It's like saying, I have the C of A, so that means that I own an "authentic" Porsche.

Like there are people selling Toyota Camry's with 993 panels and passing them as "authentic" 993's to the unsuspecting buyers.
