new painted split spoiler question????
Guys,
my new C2S spoiler is coming in next week. The body wshop I went to said there is a lot of time required to remove and replace the spoiler, and thats where a lot of the cost goes.
I ordered the whole kit:
tequipment retrofit kit rear spoiler carrera S part number 000.044.800.98
parts included:
993.512.317.00.g2x -----spoiler (the whole rear wing) prime coated
993.512.591.00 g2x ------grill prime coated
993.512.592.00 g2x ------grill prime coated
993.512.123.00 g2x ------center piece prime coated
999.591.390.00 ------- 16 x clamping washers
999.915.509.40 --------adhesive set
Do u recommend I remove have them paint it , and I remvoe the old one and reinstall the new one? or is this complicated and may damage or scratch my newly painted spoiler?

I would remove it myself, and perhaps, reinstall the newly painted split grill, depending on my schedule... p-car.com has instructions on how to install the single-grill, I assume a split one wouldn't be too far off from this procedure...?
http://p-car.com/diy/grill/
EDIT: I just reread your post and looked up the part numbers... Why are you replacing the outer portion of the spoiler? Can't you just have the C2S split grill painted, and install it yourself? That would save a couple hundred $$ on parts alone...

Not sure about tequipment, but I got my from Gert, had it painted for $50 and installed by my mechanic for $75 - would have done it myself, but the car was in the shop for something else.
Good Luck

Actually, based on previous threads, that kit is cheaper than buying the split grill alone, and comes with all the parts required.

I am curious, how much is a split rear tail with the motor worth. I am have one with 12K miles, I am going to selling.
By the way, I have taken off and replaced the wings before. It is an easy job and can be done in less than an hour.

Looks as if you are missing the metal reinforcement bar that stops it warping along the leading edge....do a search as I have posted before about the split grill, I had it assembled and sprayed up then fitted it myself, on my old 4S.

Black993,
I read an old post of yours... https://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/312650-split-spoiler-part-number-needed.html
...at 1 point u say "Just getting the photo onto my mac, I paid £28 for the part in the UK, he's the real PITB, I think I originally had the part in the kit, but didn't realise what it was , and since mislaid it. Oh well I'll put it down to experience!"
So I am hoping its in the kit.,....I will check when I recieve it.

just from past experience you might want to wait until the parcel comes and you see what you actually recieve. you might be misled a little as to what you really think you are getting. if its the $300.00 kit assy. you will not recieve the whole rear wing, and you also did not list the reinforcement bar above either that is most definately needed. even though that bar part # is listed in the kit, lately it has not been included for whatever reason and you will have to order that seperately. sorry for the bad news. while your there its a perfect time to replace your wall.

I will let u know if thr rail is included in the kit when I recieve it. The list I made was a copy/paste from a previous post. It is not necessarily what is in the kit.
BTW...I checked my current spoiler, and the rail is not present. Does anyone's stock spoiler grill have it? You can see a pic of what it looks like here: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...t=split+grille
If only the C2S spoiler comes with the rail, this should mean that everyones spoiler should be slightly warped????????

The best argument for the DIY approach is that, assuming your good with your hands, you KNOW that it will be right when you get done. That's not an assumption that can be made very often these days when you farm work out to shops.

i would guess most people have caught the error some way or another before it was installed and had to order it like i, there is a post out there that has a picture of what happens with out it.

993c4smontreal, i reread your post and just wanted to redefine and to make sure we are on the same wave length. if you ordered the porsche kit. the whole wing ?? yes, you will recieve the spoiler frame, two kidney grilles, center divider, adhesive kit, fastners, and maybe, maybe not the reinforcement rail.
if your shop gouges you any more than a half an hour to remove that you might want to go check and see what they did. more like 15 minutes. I agree with TMc this job is a piece of cake and you can learn alot. just so you know there are shims on both sides of the frame mounts if you get it back and its whopper jawed you might make sure they are there. another tip, if you did not know this already is that the spoiler frame is already masked off and is not to be removed until paint work is complete and you will have to remove the nylon bushings from your old frame to install in your new one.
