Default Transaxle bearings gone

While putting a clutch and LWF in my 993 my mechanic discovered that oil is leaking out around the rear axles. There is a lot of play and he thinks the bearings are shot. I am getting some humming noise from the rear under deceleration so I assume it is from the bearings.

Now for the questions: 
Where in the Santa Rosa, San Rafael area can I get my transaxle worked on?
What else should I be doing while I am in there?

Interesting, I have a similar sound, but I thought it had to do w/ my B&B exhaust. What type of humming sound? I hear a humming/whurring when I let off around 5500-4200 RPM in 4th, 5th, and 6th gear.

This sounds more like the tire noise you get when you go over really old payment. It happens at any RPM or any speed.

Shawn, DeJung Motorsports in Cotati is a good solid shop. For top dollar you can go to S-Car-Go in San Rafael.

With the engine out of the car, depending upon mileage, consider replacing the SAI Check Valve, plugs, power steering belt, maybe plug wires, CV Boots/repack.

You also might want to look into Tillman's in Santa Rosa.

How's your first gear synchro? Is that easy to replace when he does the bearings, assuming it's bad?
My engine sound insulation pad is hanging a bit - you could do that too.

I just got back from the mechanic, the differential bearings are gone, you can move the axles up and down. What I really need is a place I can send the transmission so I can get the differential looked at and rebuild. I am looking for a shop with lots of experience rebuilding rear differentials.
Any suggestions from someone who has had this done?
