You can always swap the little 5W bulb for a 55W driving lamp. I upgraded the lights in my ducts last year and wrote a DIY; here is the thread:

Hella Light DIY

That made a huge difference in the quality and quanity of light available. I am tempted to put in the HID kits as well ; that would be awesome!!

From what I can see the best combination would be the fit/finish of the Porsche ducts combined with a decent driving lamp.

Cheers,

Mike

I am in conversation with a supplier to see what I can do. I will post the pics and info as soon as I have it. The unit includes a 55watt bulb system.
Thanks

Here is another take on upgrading the lighting for the ducts - I used a PIAA 55 Watt driving light with excellent results.

This is a good choice. I went with the Hella 55W lights because I compared the PIAA side by side with the Hella...I liked the spread pattern of the Hella better (the lights are much deeper than the PIAA so they throw light differently). Just my two cents, you can't go wrong with any of the choices. Both are way better than the crappy lights that came with the ducts...

Cheers,

Mike

Mike, you are absolutely correct on the differences between manufacturers:

- the Hella is more of a fog light with a broad light pattern
- the PIAA is more of a driving light with a long distance pattern

both are an excellent source of supplemental light for the 993
Has anyone done a HID upgrade to the S-ducts? I may consider this next...

I was thinking of the HID as well...there should be space for the units behind inside the bumper. That would be neat!

Cheers,

Figures... I just got my ducts, oh well.

By the way, I love my crummy little 5 wt lights and OEM ducts from Gert. They match the car well, as opposed to the funky blue colored upgrade lights which weren't to my liking.

I know I'm in the minority here, just passing this along. My aftermarket HID's are so bright that I didn't need the extra upgrade fog lights for where I live in a basically fog free area.

The upgraded lights I used are not blue ; they are glass lensed and halogens so they almost look yellow compared to the HID's.

I like the 55W lights because they fill in to the lower fronts and the sides...the beam spread is reasonably wide.

Here is a shot with my car with just the Hella fog lights installed in the ducts....

Quite a bit different than the 5W markets

Cheers,

Mike

I should have some info by tomorrow on both the Turbo S ducts with 55W fog lights as well as after market RS Splitters.
I think we will have to have at least 10 people interested. I will take the lead on this, but I am trying to stay away from fund collection for self evident reasons
I will keep everyone posted.
Thanks
Ron

I'd be interested in both if fitment is close to OEM.

Here is the info. I am still waiting on the RS Splitter information.
CAUTION, this is someone from Ebay, but it is not the dreaded HKPlus everyone is moaning about. This guy's stuff seems better to me. See pics below.
These INCLUDE the 55watt driving lights. No need for additional surgery
Bottom line: 10 buyers. Shipping extra. Pay direct. Make decision REAL FAST.
Cost is $233.75 instead of $275.00 on ebay.
Please see pics.
Thanks
