I've used Griot's clay ... great results but relatively expensive. They use a lot of Porsches in their catalogues, so it must be good ... right?

Does Steve Weiner sell Zaino? Because I'd only buy it from him.

I just had to clay one of my cars for overspray and the installer of my clear bra said he now recommends using Plexus on it, not clay. Available at Motorcycle dealers. I did all the stoneguard with it.

I used Mother's clay several times and was happy with it. Griot's stuff is always excellent quality, but expensive.

I used Mothers, only because that's what was available at FLAPS. It came in a box with quick detailer spray (to use as a lube*) and a small bottle of wax.

Doing the clay bar on 12-year-old paint was an eye opener. All the roughness you feel, even when the car is clean, is gone. The paint is smooth as glass after the clay. Well, except for all those dings, chips and scratches...

*One reason the spray is better than soapy water is that you can put it on and wipe it off inside the garage without the need for bucket and hose.

I have a Meguiars Clay Bar that I have yet to use. I plan to use it in the next few weeks, but I also want to use the Meguiars 3-step polish system. the first stage is to use the Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner to remove old traces of polish, I assume. Should I clay after this process or before? Step 2 is polish and step 3 is wax. I used this system last year and was very pleased with the results, but I wanted to use the clay bar as I had heard such good reports from you guys.

Cool

I did my detailing today with the Griots bar. My weekend driver must have been very clean because I did not get too much dirt of.

It was most effective close to rubber sills and window frames where it cleaned some old dirt nicely.

I washed the car first with Dawn to get rid of the old wax and after claying I directly waxed with P21. I do not think that a paint cleaner is necessary before waxing.

I use the Mother's clay bar and detailing kit (used to be a sponsor and I know the guys who own it) its a good product. My Black 930 shines like a jewel after I've cleaned and polished it. Of course ten minutes later the black looks dirty again, but that's just black.

I used the Meguire's bar and quick detailer, and it was difficult to use. I later tried Griot's bar and Speed Shine and it was much much better (and about the same price). I don't know what's in that Speed Shine stuff, but it is awesome.

And while I'm on my Griot's rant, his interior cleaner cannot be beat. Stay away from the glass cleaner though, that stuff is worse than plain water. "Invisible Glass" is the best glass cleaner I've found.

Ooops, think I went OT.
