Gert = www.carnewal.com

Row = Rest of the World. US DOT mandated that 911 imported to US needed to have a higher suspension - for some reason we are not too clear on.

see this https://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/342167-ride-height-questions.html

Not a bad idea on the wet sanding of the whole car too!
Good to see that most of you think its not as bad as it looks. Puts me at ease a bit. I'm still waiting on the adjuster to call me back. Its at a reputable place, they work on some higher-end stuff here in the area and the owner is a family friend so I have faith in them.

Thanks for all the support!

oh, and what might ROW height be? Still learning my rennlist acronyms

That definately won't buff out!!!

Sorry about your luck, on the bright side it looks mostly cosmetic and shouldn't devaulue the car much if it's fixed correctly. I agree with a previous post to keep lots of pictures on file for the next owner so they don't get spooked.

Good luck and nurse that very sore neck.

Make sure to go to a Porsche specialist that has worked on 993s before. Replacing the fender is difficult to get right as the factory basically custom-fitted all the panels. A replacement fender is difficult to get lined up right, even if you use the Porsche part.

Look on the bright side, now you can get a Euro front bumper cover. Just find a top notch body shop and you will be happy. I also think a shop that uses Glasurit paint is even better.

Take pictures along the way of the repair. The damage doesn't look too bad but it may cost way more than you think to fix it right. DO NOT GO WITH A SHOP THAT HER INSURANCE TELLS YOU TO GO TO!!! Take a week to go from shop to shop and inspect what they do and how they do it! Get all new oem parts and metal. Check if your front fender went into your driver's door any- even a mm towards it because that all needs to line up. Looks like the whole front will have to be resprayed and if the fender did touch the door any, I would make sure they repaint the door and not just spot paint it. If they do have to paint the door make sure they remove the door because you will end up with a tape line in the front lip of the door or overspray in there and the jamb. If they are going to spray that much of the driver's side I would really push them to respray the whole car and not just wet to blend. You can argue a lot of this with them if the adjuster is a cheap skate, but more than likely he or she will see that your car is- or was- a clean Porsche and respect that you want the work done right and not at Earl Schieb's- no offense Earl! I think the front fenders are quiete expensive ($1750) from the dealer and do need a good hand in lining up. As you know, these cars need to line up. The front fenders get some type of seam sealer in the top jamb under the hood which some shops might neglect. Make sure your hood gets painted off the car as well.

In the end, if you get the car done right, you won't be so mad at it. Have them polish the car out flat withour orange peel, even though it's a PITA to keep the swirls off, it looks so much better.

Thanks for the detailed info. I'm a bit worried as I just found that she has only minimal insurance (just my luck...) that will cover up to $10k. Her insurance company has tried to contact her and left messages but has not heard back from her. This happened 2 days ago and her car was damaged but only slightly. I really hope she isn't trying to just "forget" about it since her car basically just needs new tires and some paint. She didn't look like the type to care about paint either.....

Thank you all again for the info so far. Its all the little things I need to know about that will make sure it comes out right, or let me refuse it when they try to give it back and its not done right. I do have a feeling it will be just fine as it is owned by an aquaintence of our family and the owner has a few exotics himself. Keep your fingers crossed for me and keep those little details to look for coming in.

I love this place

If her insurance will only pay $10k you might have to get yours involved as well. Parts will add up fast and paint is expensive. The bumper cover alone is a lot of money!

so its been a week and NOTHING has been done by her insurance company. Not an adjuster, not a call, nothing. Monday they say.

I guess now there is question about whether her 10k will cover it.....
I know its hard to tell, but can you all possibly shed some light on possible cost from the pictures that were posted? I understand there may be damage underneath what can be seen.

someone just shoot me!

Sorry to see this... glad it wasn't worst and more importantly that you're okay.

I think its all cosmetics... new fender, new euro bumper, clear corners and you'll be as good as new. And yes, you have the rights to take it to the shop of your choice... and I would call her insurance since you have not heard from them. Good Luck.

The cooler is on under the right side fender in front of the tire. On the left (where your is hit) is the air conditioning condensor, fan and lines. I'll bet you a dollar they are toast.

I would call your insurance and let them fix the car. Then they will go after them for ya. Never heard of a 10k max I was thinking Fl law was min 50k or 100k I have 500k with State Farm. What is the name of her Insurance company.
