Looking for 2nd P-Car 993
Okay: So, I'm a trespasser from the 997 forum. I have an 07 C2S, but have decided that I want a second P-Car. This is for several reasons. One, the 07 is my every day car right now. My wife drives the SUV. Second, I don't want to worry about my brand new Porsche in every situation I might be in on certain days. Third. I like the 993 in some ways as much or more.
So: I am faced with this: A cherry 96-98 993 with low miles from one of the P-Car specialty guys at $55,000 to $69,000 from what I've seen. Or a higher mileage, maybe not so cherry 993 for what? $35,000 to $40,000 and plan on putting $10 in replacements, repairs?
I don't know. I'm asking you, the 993 experts.
Where do you look? How much is too much. These are my questions. BTW, I have read the entire FAQ on the 993 as well as searched for selling prices all over the internet.

I would buy a mint 1998 and drive it on nice days and leave it in the garage on the not-so-nice days.
Leave the 997 outside.
In a few months, you will realize this was the correct choice.

You needn't spend 55k+ unless yr looking for a cherry turbo. 40-45k will buy you a solid car with no work required.

You could use the 997 as a tow car...?
I wouldn't spend more than 45k on a 993 unless you're going to wrap it in plastic, put it in your living room and gaze at it. Wait, that's not a bad idea.

I get it. You could be right? But the 997 is just so.........new.

Seriously, some of us don't have the time or ability to put a lot of miles on their cars and we want a nice 993. I decided, based on my parameters and my usage, to buy the best 1998 C2S I could find. I knew I would not put a lot of miles on it and I want as close to new (within reason) as I could find.
I think I choose well.
I put miles on a daily driver and take the 993 out when the situation allows.
The 993 stays in the garage and the new car is outside.

If it's going to be an outside car, go for the higher mileage, less expensive 993's. Your only problem is that you are going to fall in love with the 993 and worry about it as much as the 997. Then you'll be out shopping for Another daily driver....
