Thumbs up

Coming along nicely Chris.

Should have offered it as a factory color.

What did they use to get all the carpet glue out of the interior???

How did they strip off the undercoating?

thanks

Looks like a bolt-in cage will be fitted after the car is trimmed, if you look closely you can see the holes in the wheel tub and the plate on the back of the chassis leg.

Nice job Chris.

Many thanks for all the nice comments. This is a dream come true for me and I cannot justify the expense but I will only live once in this life. Colin, is right. The bolt in roll cage was fitted prior to painting and then removed. I want it for rigidity and need it since I will have carbon fiber doors. Vic, I have to agree with you on the colour. I have always like Speed Yellow but this is the most popular colour in the Porsche Club here so I wanted something bright which I liked. My plans for orange must have been leaked to Porsche because shortly after I settled on it the 997 GT3RS colour schemes were released. LA964RS it is a lot of work to get the carpet and sound deadening grunge out. I cannot give you details on what was used as it was done by my shop. There are threads on this.

A lot of average minded people have asked me why would I carry out this expensive irrational project. Simple. I am making the engine more efficient with Colin's 9m parts and stripping out weight so that I can play my part in reducing global warming and I am looking for rust so I have to strip the interior and body. No other reason comes to mind! Talking of rust, we found a 1 inch hole in the sill in front of the bottom front corner of the passenger door and a lot of surface rust around the channel holding the rear windscreen. We will be taking out the front windscreen as well to clean up any surface rust there and putting in some new glass and securing it in the 964 way and not the 993 way. Supposedly this is stronger and more durable.

All the best,

What a fantastic project. I love the color and it looks like it's getting put together meticulously. Given that you're gonna put it through the weight loss program, have you thought about installing lexan instead of glass? I think Rob (AC993C2S) is going that route with his red RSCS project. There's also this http://rennspd.com/P_Detail.asp?PID=655&Task=STD

Thanks Louis. I suggested lexan to my mechanic and he advised against it on the basis of clouding. He had a 996 cup car in at the time and its side windows were badly clouded. As to the sunroof it is now gone and a thin sheet of metal is spot welded in place.
