Default Blade Key and Porsche Drive Lock issue

I can have the car unlocked-as in sitting there overnight, key in the seat, put the key, turn AND it will not start and the Remote Warning light is on. I push the button on the remote, light goes out AND everything is fine.

Happens as well when I actually unlock the car-say in a parking lot. I go to put the key in, turn ignition and it requires me to push the remote again.

Is there a link up-for lack of better words that occurs independently from the push button on the remote?

Weak battery? Normal?

It is very odd and I don't recall having this issue in the last 993.

Thanks,

Mine does this too. I'm brand new to p-cars so can't say if this is normal, and if it is, whether there is a way disable this 'feature'. PO indicated that it was normal, albeit a p.i.t.a.

How much time passes from the time the car receives the signal to unlock to
the time the key is turned? A quick unlock, hop in and start usually does not
require a second push of the remote. If a significant amount of time passes
from the door being unlocked and opened a second push is required.

Got you. That makes sense i.e. time passing.

I believe that is normal. The car will let you jump in and start if you have left the key in but only for a limited time. If you pull the key you can get in and start after one press of the button. If its been more than a few minutes you need two presses on the button. I think of it as locking the car and unlocking it with each press. You can here it activate locks with each press.
As said, don't reccommend leaving key in car overnight.

all this could be personnalised (programed) by the Porsche System Tester.
From the factory, the time between unlocking the immobilizer and starting the car should be
less than 20 seconds.
My car does not lock by itself, it is forbidden here.
The argument behind this is if ever "GOD Forbid" you have an accident and the car is locked, this could
retard first-aid and rescuers to access to the people in a car.

I think its supposed to give you one minute between unlocking the immobilzer and starting the car.

Is there documentation anywhere exactly when it will do this? I've never had the system automatically lock the doors--just disable the starting after a few minutes per the original post.

It seems more often than not, I put the key into the ignition, turn key to the on position, wait for the immobilizer light in dash to go off (which it hardly ever does), press the key fob, wait another two seconds, immobilizer light in dash goes off, then start the car. What gives???

Why do you wait for the immobilizer light to go off? I put the key in the ignition, turn to the on position, press the key fob, and start the car - all without waiting.

If the key's out of the dash for more than ~3 min, you ALWAYS must push the button (either locking/unlocking the door, or with the key in the ignition) before it will start.

I ALWAYS leave my keys in the car. No issues.
On a different note, my blade key is HISTORY!!! Thankfully.

The factory owner's manual has no statement regarding how long one has after unlocking the door to insert the key in the ignition. It does state that. "After removing the ignition key, the immobilizer will be activated automatically after 3 minutes."

Adrian states that "...the immobiliser function is activated automatically 90 seconds after the ignition key has been removed." He also states that the immobilizer "...will automatically re-activate 180 seconds if the remote control is used to de-activate it without the key being in the ignition."

I, too, am interested in documentation with reference to a car locking itself when the key is in the ignition. My garage attached to my house and is secure. With the exception of times when I am out of town, I always leave my key in the ignition and in the year I've owned the car the Drive Lock has never given me a problem of any sort.

The owner's manual does state that, "If the car is unlocked by remote control and subsequently none of the doors are opened within a period of one minute, the doors will be automatically re-locked and the alarm system and immobilizer will be reactivated."

TRINITONY...How did you get locked out?
