Sorry I got here too late - but I'd like to add an endorsement:
1) I have seen Rick a numerous DE's. He did indeed give excellent point-bys, especially when a 1.7 liter 914 appeared in his mirrors.
2) While most drivers were messing with tire pressures, asking for tips on how to go faster, Rick would wash his car. He subscribes to the "it's not how fast you go, but how good you look theory of driving".
3) I also like the fact that his instructor made him spin. Clearly, Rick was resisting his instructor's attempts to make him go fast.
4) Going slow also helps keep the car clean.

The decision can wait till after then. In true HWFM fashion, whats the hurry?
Yes, that was the red 1984 coupe; great car, and even made the 'cover' of Rennlist for awhile. Car will be at VIR with a first time student (and if he droves it faster than me, we'll know something here).
I am trying to get back up to those speeds.

You suggested Driver and Risk Managment Consultant for your team function.
But I did like Dave M's suggestion of Risk Adversion Consultant.
Since you excelled in the application process, you get to choose.
Welcome to the team Rick!
(Please be sure the beer is really cold when you show up in the Turtle Pond.)

Thank you, Mike in Chi and everyone else that didn't vote against me; I am humbled by your confidence. I will strive to never embarrass the Team (though I can't promise that I won't embarrass myself; when I do, you will be the first to know).
Risk Adversion Consultant sounds good, but how about Aversion? Risk Aversion Consultant could be my middle name if it weren't so long.
In all seriousness (does this get me kicked out?) - this has been a lot of fun. Thank you

Is it possible to get kicked out of this club?

I suppose if you Opened a thread and didn't follow the Letter of of the HWFM Racing bylaws you could be expelled.....
While your humor will carry you a long way with HWFMR, please try harder at spinning and do us proud!
I had a recent test day at Sears Point, 4 spins (T2 twice, T3A, T10)...wet conditions but I wasn't going that fast....spun on entry to T10 and ended up stopped on the apex burm...

Not all our teammates are slow. In fact some of them regularly appear on Podiums.
While they are achievers, they achieve in a HWFM manner. Which makes their performance acceptable to the team.
Or they are very, very funny, a quality that, in the eyes of our teammates, can overcome a surfeit of talent or competence.

I myself just had a HWFM moment. Last Friday I picked up the car from the body shop where I had the left rear fender repaired, (remnants from the PO) and the front fiberglass spoiler properly sanded and painted. I noticed that the left side tires were quite low on air, but it still rolled, so up into the trailer it went. As I was walking back out of the trailer, I noticed a triangular shaped piece of black fiberglass laying on the ramp. You guessed it, I hit the ramp because the tires were low & knock a chunk right off the corner. This time, I'm removing it and hand delivering it back to the body shop.
