Default How many kinds of OEM 993 seats are there?

My "new" '96 C4 has power seats with heat, but no lumbar (which I really miss).

Are there just two basic seats (std and sport), each with options (power, heat, lumbar)?

You are correct, with the only addition of the early-build 95 carryover of the 964 sport seats. Very few cars had these. They are my favorites, BTW... the support is amazing, even under very hard cornering

Four seats:

Early (softback) sport
Late (hardback) sport
Standard (perfed leather panels)
Supple (gathered leather)

What are "Comfort Seats"? Option code 437/438.

Other than the option name, they look just like standard 8-way seats.

Here's a pic from an Ebay car. Standard seat with different upholstery. May also be softer foam--not sure.

What does Porsche mean by the "Comfort Seat" listed in the options? Is this simply the term for the standard seat?

No. Supple seat means it has the ruffled look as in the pic. Standard seats have smooth perforated leather.

Edited to correct supple vs comfort confusion.

So power, heat, and lumbar were three separate options?

Hmmm... My option sticker shows 437 and 438 ("Electric Comfort Seat") and they're the smooth, perforated leather. Aren't those in the picture the Supple Leather option? The option code listing and the window sticker option listing can get confusing.

I recall correctly "comfort" refers to the lumbar option.....supple leather was another option

Well, with the four options listed, where does "Adaptive Sport" seats fall? Are these the early sport seats (soft back) - as mine are or a different kind of seat? I also have "partial leather" which seems to be the perforated inserts (non-leather, right?) and the rest of the seat is leather.

Partial leather has leather seating surfaces (seat back and bottom) in the front seats only while the rest is vinyl.

While mine are "comfort seats", I do not have lumbar support, only optional heat and 8-way power. What kind of mechanism controls lumbar support?- lever, twist ****, switch?

If I recall correctly, it is a switch on the base to the rear of the power seat switch or switches...the GR Cab. in my avatar had the lumbar option

My option sticker lists 437/438 comfort seats. As near as I can tell, mine are standard (smooth) partial leather seats. There are two 4-way buttons... the front is forward/back and front seat height, the rear is recline and rear height. I don't recall a lumbar adjustment.

Perhaps the comfort seat option is for 8-way power?

stock sport seats are hug fitting corner busters, they have half of the electronic adjustments as other seats- I have been enjoying since 95-can't find enough corners that are dry this winter in Oregon
