Weight reduciton update:

-Waiting on the Oddesy Battery (-18/20 pounds~)
-964 RS Manual Steering Rack en route from Germany (will lose PS pump, lines, fluid, etc...will let you know on weight diff)
-Still have to remove large washer fluid resovoir from fender (unk weight...?)

Running out of ideas....Eric? Walrod? Getting down to the nitty-gritty here...2700 pound goal.

Contemplating the lexan and converting windows to manual cranks.....

Bill- thats on the list for next Spring, along with the motor conversion.......and even though the sunroof is most certainly going bye-bye, I have read some conflicting reports on how much weight is REALLY lost, although any weight from the high point of the car is nothing but good to lose.

that is right, weight up high or at extreme ends of the car is a big 'ole lever arm just trying to pry loose the tires from the ground

Crash bumpers, spare tire, brakes (changing to larger Brembos in front save 10 lbs a corner), AC evaporative system with fans and such.... So this here is another 110 lbs or so....

Carbon Hood - 25ish lbs savings... Oh and the carbon RACE hood without the air inlets. Streamlines the aero. Also the RUF (and Getty and others make fiberglass versions) windshield pillar fillers do reduce drap quite a bit. So light and slippery......

Dude, just suck the fluid out of the washer reservoir: Voila... 10 lbs. 5 week diet of rice cakes
and water: 25 lbs. THere's 35 pounds right there. Manual cranks. Oh, and take out all the
gas, that'll save a bunch of weight too. I think I really need to put some smileys on this
post for the humour impaired... That's a great project. I like.

The fender mounted washer tank is HUGE - plus it has two motors. 11 Liters h20 capacity IIRC, vs 1 liter for the RS bottle. Yes, you can suck all the water out, but it's nice to loose the huge tank and extra motor. Maybe 5-10#+ net.

I'd guess the sunroof at 20-30# - mechanism, box, panel, etc. Didn't weigh the box and sub-panel - but the headliner panel above your head is at least 5#. Not sure there is a big gain for manual cranks versus motor though.

The hood is really, really heavy.

Looking great!

OK now I have a real idea. But it's a wild one because I've never seen it discussed before.
The metal tunnel cover that runs along the length of the car on the bottom that hides the
shifter rods and brake lines weighs a few pounds. Why not replace it with a custom made one
of CF and/or Kevlar and/or fiberglass. Might save 5 or more pounds. But it would be a bit
of work. You've taken care of all the 30 or 40 pound items. To get 20 more you're going to have
to do 5 things at 4 pounds each unfortunately. I wager you've figured that out already.

You don't happen to know how much weight you saved by going to new seats do you?
I'm trying to figure out how much weight I save going from stock seats (not sport - just the
regular seats, drivers side has all the motors but passenger has about half of them ?!?!?!)
to Recaro GT3 seats or the PP seats you installed. My guess is on the order of 40 lbs per
side savings - total somewhat below 100 lbs.

Sorry I feel like an idiot but I can't find your name anywhere, I feel like I should be saying more
than "hey you" all the time. Your car is da bomb. I hope you're out driving it right now.
