Default 993 RS and 964 RS on the way to the States

Just returned home from a 7 day trip to Europe.

I contacted Thomas Smidt in Germany. He VIP'd us all over Germany. We logged 3,000 KM and looked at many cars. He is the RS guru. He know's so much about the RS's it is amazing. He has detailed logs of many cars. He knows were everything should be and what to look for.

He found me a great Maritime Blue 964 RS. What a car. I logged about 40 miles on it around Telgate Germany. The car is fast and nimble. The LWT flywheel makes the car feel like me 2.7 RS. The car is a wonderfull example.

I looked at 3 993 RS. He Pulled them out of the weeds for me. They are not currently for sale. One a clubsport the other two Tourings. I hope to finalize the deal on one today. I will post picky's when I get them.

If you are interested in these cars you need to contact Thomas. He will put you on the list. I suggest you go over with your check book and bring one back. They are very special cars.

Here is a few shots of the trip.

I would be happy to fill anyone in on the trip. I will go over the details with you.

Are you federalizing these, or using for track only?

Current issue of Total 911 has a write-up comparisons of two 964RS vs two 993RS.

Thanks for the tip. You were the first to direct me to Thomas.

The cars are great. THe 993RS is not totally picked up from the owner yet. I will post picks once it is at Thomas's place.

The cars will be fully DOT and road legal.

As far as the price of the cars. They are both over $100K in the states. Ouch

I hope it will all be worth it. It makes it much easier having a good guy on the Europe side of things.

I will keep you posted.

Thanks Joe,

How much was the price there before DOT etc. stuff?

EDIT: I just saw your list of cars... God damn that is very, very impressive list IMO. Really cool to see all that kind of cars 911 RS, these two on this post, IRCO clone etc. instead of just bunch of new cars.

Any pics?

What do you exactly mean by "pulled them out of the weeds." Are these in rough shape, or did he search high and low for them and found a few good cars in hiding. Why did you pass on the 993's.

They are very hard to find in perfect condition.

Pulling them out of the weeds means these cars were not listed for sale. They were private owners willing to sell.

Ok that does it! I am coming out your way this summer to check out all these cars along with Herr Schmidt's stable.

Agreed, well done Joe. The 964 looks great. You and Jeff G. really did it right by going over there. Can't wait to see photos of the 993. I have your # and will call soon.
