Hi,
I finally got my Cayman home.
Thanks to MikeR's fine ride, I got to Pioneer's in San Diego in fine style. Mike (MikeAlwaysWins) was kind enough to lend his support also. I have a pic of us together.
First leg of the trip home was to stop by Moorpark to see Steve and Rufus. That's 169 miles of freeway driving from San Diego. Quite of bit of stop/go through LA. While waiting for Steve, I filled my tank- 5.7 gallons (29.6 MPG). Boy I like this car already.
After saying goodbye to Rufus, I went to Solvang and over-nighted there. I had to stop to catch the Dallas/Seattle game. What a bizzare ending.
Sunday morning, I left bright and early, all the way home through the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway1). Incredible weather and sceneries. Lot's of photo stops. You guys can see the pics.
Now to the car. It is Meteor Gray with Stone Gray standard leather. No other options except for mats and a chrome exhaust. Turns out the exhaust is a duel tip set-up, together with the debatch option, makes for a unique looking car. The Meteor Gary is the same basic color body as the seal gray, but with a generous helping of bronze metallic pigments (no such pigments in the seal grey). It is stunning in bright day-light. I have a close-up pic that show the color nicely. I also have a pic (last in the batch) of a seal gray for comparison.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The MSRP of the car was $51,635. My price was $46,582. Probably the lowest price 07 Cayman sold new to date. Also, with zero options, it is probably one of the lightest Cayman on the road. The only way to loose some weight would be PCCB. My wallet won't support that.![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Now to the driving. I bought the car for it's cornering fun, and it does not disappoint. On Highway 1, between Rugged Point and the Carmel Highlands, I went on 60+ miles of twisty, hilly drive. The Cayman was just glued to the road. I read the description 'surgical steering' before, and the Ruf has that, so does the Cayman. The car just goes where the eyes go. That portion of the drive completely validates my purchase. I am so glad I took the scenic route home. The car is just made for these roads.
With 245 HP, and limited to 4,000 break-in RPM, the acceleration is adequate, but nothing to write home about. I knew that when I bought the car. With my Ruf, I have alternatives if I need power. The Cayman is absolutely fine for daily driving as is. The car is much more pampering than the Ruf, and with much more amenities and conveniences. It is definitely a wonderful daily driver.
I have some issues with the shifter, but I'll save that for a new thread.
Lots of pics to follow. Enjoy.

Fo3,
The Cayman was designed for 18" wheels, with 19" up-grades. Me a cheap-skate as always, opted for the standard 17" wheels, which are entirely too small for the wheel wells and wheel arches.
I do not like any of the standard Porsche Cayman wheels (I like the deep-dish look, like my Ruf), so I'll go after-market wheels in the future.
This car just cries out for PSS9s. That will come after the OEM shocks are toast. Then I'll lower the car, and further improve the handling.
As for the price, I got it for $1k over actual invoice. Can't complain for an 07 model.
