Question what's the green stuff?

I just drained the tranny on the 1995 993 C2 for the first time today. Don't know when it was changed last. Drained a dark green oil and replaced with Mobil 1 75w-90.

Just returned from a warm up and test drive and shifter seems just a tad more notchy? Can anyone tell me what the oil I removed might have been in case I want to go back to it?

Thanks

Mark,

good job!

I know what the green stuff in lobsters is, but can't help you identify your mistery oil.

Mark,
A number of people on Rennlist have reported notchiness after switching to regular Mobil1 75W90. Do a search for Mobilube SHC 75W90. I used this when replacing the factory fill last year and have enjoyed smooth shifting since. Lüfteknic in Virginia is one source.

Perhaps I bought the wrong oil? What is different about Mobilube "SHC" 75W90?

Click on the SHC that Andreas posted, it will tell you a little about the product, as well as where to get it.

I have done a number of searches and find a number of anectodal reports about the SHC oil but and can't find any posts of any individual comparison experience with the Mobilube SHC 75W-90 -vs- the Mobil 1 75W-90. I guess I'll just have to order some and do the shootout myself!

Thanks for the info and link.

Just to add confusion to the subject many of us like Speciality Formulations (?) MTL-R gear oil. I don't know how to post a likk to the thread but search the 993 forum on "Gear oil for your 993" and all the info is in that thread.
