Pretty good - the lift gets used quite often, several times every weekend and occasionally on the weekdays. Most of the lifts are 993's, but the occasional other Porsche and other brands as well, Subie, Honda, etc.

The only thing that has started to leak is the upper seal on one of the cylinders - its not major at all, but I need to get that fixed. Other than that, no issues.

Since its a 9000 lb lift, I have lifted my F250 SuperDuty V10 extended cab with utility box/power tailgate and it does not even slow down...

Oh, I have modified the shop since those picts were taken - I raised the ceilings 4' (now have 14' over the lift) so I can raise pretty well any kind of vehicle with no issues.

Cheers,

Mike

Would you still go with a symmetric lift now knowing you have to roll the car forward and backward to get the arms under? The problem I'm finding with a lot of asymmetric lifts are the rear arms are too long to fit under a BMW jack pad properly.

Good question - I had to widen the posts by 14" in order to fit a 993 - the jack points are pretty tight to the car, and I need to swing the back arms under the car, then roll the car forward to fit the front lift points. Its not really a big issue though.

If you have an opportunity to buy an asymmetric lift at a price you like, I do not see any reason why you would not get one.

Cheers,

Mike

Probably following start up 'backfire' on a 911SC that was missing a blow off valve on the air box .....

Think it was a 4 ft lift .... a SC is only good for a 4 inch lift ....

Ideally I would like to have a 4 post and a 2 post lift. That said, you really have to think about what you want the lift for to chose the right one for you. I need storage plus do restoration work so a 4 post lift works well for me. However there is the extra expense of a sliding bridge jack to get one end of the car up in the air although I occasionally use a small aluminum floor jack to get one corner up. If your focus is maintenance then a 2 post lift should work well. A 12 foot ceiling would be nice too although I can live with 11 feet with low slung cars. Don't underestimate the foot print of all lifts. They will eat up the space in a big garage quickly.

I'll take some pictures when I come up in a couple of weeks! I just got a new rear reflector as the old one has moisture condensation issues and new trunk and rear deck lid shocks. No sign of Fisters yet as they're probably at the ceramcrome coating place.

Default Pay the $500.00 to have the supplier install the thing.

If you are going through this expense make sure that you have the supplier do the install. It is the only way to have a valid warrantee and the pice of mind to use the thing. I would not have had the confidence to lift a 70-80k thousand dollar car without professional instulation.Make sure you contact both your home and auto insurance companies to put them on notice that you have had a lift ,or lifts, installed at your residence. They want to know.
