Can anyone substantiate this guy's claims? Anyone heard of him (or the car?) Nevertheless, could be a good buy on the car. But how much more power in the Euro version? Can it be CA smogged?

Call the guy and ask him for the VIN # and run a carfax on it to see whether the # of owners is correct, etc. Unless it is a 3.8 liter, I can't see how it can have more power than a NA model as it would've had to be neutered^H^H^H^H^H^H^H converted to meet our smog restrictions and had a OBD-2 slapped on there.

to the best of my knowledge, the engine would be the same. there was a US and RoW (rest of world) suspension, but most 993 owners have long since upgraded their suspension anyway. not sure about smog, but inorder to pass US emissions i would guess that when the car was brought into the US it would have had to have been OBDII compliant. the car would have euro bumpers i assume and the euro would also have orange rear indicators, but those are cosmetic differences for the most part.

Euro trannies had better ratios than US (at least in some years/models), so this makes them faster - engines are same power.

I get a really bad feeling about that seller. The kind of guy who makes wild baseless claims is nobody I'd want to buy a car from. Not even worth the phone call IMHO.

When I bought a Acura Legend Coupe a long time ago, the 1st owner was Acura America. They had taken it from the dealers stock and used it as a Show Car. It was returned to the dealer inventory after the show. A likely scenario for this particular car.

The spelling errors (5) in that ad are pathetic - and probably reflect the credibility of the car & seller. I would assume the seller, "Dr.", doesn't hold a PhD in English....

On another note when I had my WRX I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Subaru mimicked Porsche as a car manufacturer.

So does the 996 engine in a 993 make this the first of the water cooled Porsches, last of the air cooled Porsches, or an amphibian????

Having been and currently being a Sube owner the boxer engine in the Sube is very different from the Porsche-altough both keep the CG nice and low.
