Wild Claims! Subaru built the 996 engine? Ferry's personal 993?

There does seem to be an urban myth - recently I overheard a business acquaintance recommending some new Subaru - "did you know, it has the same engine as the Porsche Boxster? - Subaru builds them for Porsche too.." This from a guy that is a car nut - albeit american muscle cars.

Well there was collaboration in the '80s. Likely Porsche teaching the Subaru guys. But then Porsche definitely went to Subaru in the early '90s for the 993 and later viscous coupling AWD technology.

no those were computer controlled transfer cased nightmares, ours are simply a kinetic energy transfer through the viscous coupling (clutch packs/fluid etc.....sort of like a motorcycle clutch) to a front differential and CV joints

No... He's legit.
No he is legit. I was looking at the ad and a little green man flew down
in his space ship and told me that if I purchased the bridge on the moon
he would name a star after me and give me a great deal on that Porsche.
Just before I made the deal he flew off? Man I cant catch a break!

The name on the ad rings a bell - Dr Andreas Anton... There's a great thread on the Pelican 911 board about this guy. Well, really about a '73 RS that was on ebag and at Fantasy Junction and owned by the good Doktor. It's a great read if you like minutia and liars being caught :-)

I am the second owner, and the first was Porsche AG
The guy who drove it was 73 years old, member of the executive board at Porsche AG gmbh. This guy's name does not figure anywhere, its simply Porsche AG, and doesn't render my car, a reference.
Else than that, all EU porsches are first registered by Porsche AG in Luxembourg
after production for the Certificate of Construction ( certificate of birth) for tax purposes, and this troll is making a tiramisu out f it.

(but I hope that Porsche designated Hans to hand-build the Subaru viscous couplings.. )
I think some of the engine urban myth is based on this connection, but mainly on the fact that Subaru is the only other manufacturer with flat config engines.
