If you want to believe a source that says....
Excellent 1998 993S.......$35,213
Excellent 1996 C2........$33,213
...then be my guest. These numbers are from the OP.
Heck, some people still believe the world is flat too.

Mine is a '96 C2 in "excellent" condition, which they say is worth $33,213. Someone would have to pry the wheel from my cold, lifeless hands before I'd sell it for that. Or, maybe someone wants to trade their low-mileage '98 "S" for my C2 and a couple grand?

I wish I was selling whatever they are smoking! They must be using the "The Insurance Adjuster's Guide To Fat Bonuses"!
Look like someone set an incorrect value some years ago, and every year the Editor says "reduce last years values by x% and publish this year's guide".......

One problem is there aren't enough of some models of Porsches that change hands often enough to really establish reliable market values. This might even apply to 993 TT, 2S and 4S models. I know that I have checked Kelley Bluebook and NADA and if you think Excellence is low, take a look at those! I really think some of us have an inflated notion of what are cars are worth. I'd like to hear some more recent reports from some buyers and sellers with actual prices.
One more thing....did I likely pay $10K too much according to Excellence as you suggest? No way! I got a car I wanted at what I considered a fair price and fellas, that's the absolute bottom line as far as I'm concerned! No one twisted my arm and I didn't commit any robbery to get the cash.

That's ridiculous. Not that I would sell my 993 - but I have gotten at least two unsolicited offers for my car, well above REAL market value. The only thing stopping me was, it still wasn't nearly enough to afford a nice 965 or 993TT

Sell yours
Maybe I’m simple minded but in my Econ 101 class I learned supply and demand establishes market price. Not a magazine or white-collar writers, just simply supply and demand. Last I checked they don’t make 993 anymore, but you never know maybe China or Mexico will get into the business. Then those prices just might be dead on!

Arguing this further is pointless.
If you need clarification, send an email to Alfie from IRA Porsche. He is a Rennlist sponsor and I am sure he will be happy to teach you all you wanted to know about accurate 993 values.
He told me that if I was ever to sell, that I would get at least $60K....and he is not the only dealer/broker that feels that number is accurate.

What Excellence didn't print
Here's what I sent them:
"Hi, I bought a Carrera 4 last Tuesday. It is the coolest car in the entire Universe. Here's the details:
1995 911 Carrera 4, 57,000 miles. Guards Red with Cashmere Beige/Black leather interior, 6 speed manual transmission, dual heated "comfort" seats, Porsche AM/FM Cassette with Porsche in-trunk 6 CD changer. Sunroof.
Car is bone stock except for Fabspeed exhaust and TechArt pedals and Techart strut tower brace. Paint is deeply glossy, interior very clean, very minor scuffing on driver's seat door side bolster. A few rock chips on nose that have been touched up. Everything tight, solid, clean, and working great. Everybody who sees it thinks it's a brand new car except Porsche afficionados familiar with the marque. Many records and comprehensive oral history of the vehicle. Brake pads and rotors just replaced. Needs nothing except for fluid changes, which it may not "need" but I'll be doing anyway. 33,500.
PS: the option codes from the front trunk lid sticker:
Code Option Description
139 Seat Heating - Left
331 AM/FM Cassette w/2 door speakers
340 Seat heating - Right
425 Rear wiper
437 Comfort seat left
438 Comfort seat right
454 Automatic speed control
490 Hi-Fi sound system
650 Sunroof
C02 Equipped with catalytic converter
regards,
