That's obscenely expensive. I don't know what they're going for on average, but if that's the price, I would rather use saran wrap.

Guy, I agree with pcar964. That price is a little steep. I've seen it at Pelican Parts for less (around 60-70 a piece). Another option is to find a local stone guard installer to do the whole install.... this is what I did, and the installer provides the material (he just cut it to make it look the same as the OEM one).

Pelican Parts has them for $61.50 each (that's where I bought mine just recently).

I did a search n saw those but they are clear stone guards . I am afraid they would not look as good as OEM white guards . Am I correct with that concern ?

Guy,
Let me know which white you have (Grand Prix or Glacier) and I'll respond with the Porsche part number.

Call Sunset Porsche and see what their Excellence price is (dealer cost + 15% + actual shipping).

I just ordered a number of things from them today.

If you order the clear ones, how easy of an installation DIY is it? Is there a chance that you will pull the paint off? Should you use some type of adhesive remover (3m or equivalent). I had some body work done last year and asked the body shop for a quote to replace the non-damaged rear qtr panel stone guard and they did not bid on it.... They said it was a pain in the ****... I cant believe that they would not even provide a quote for a new stone guard. Made me think that the job is too big for a DIYer.

Although my new ones are sitting in my garage (read: I don't yet have personal experience), as I understand it, they ~can~ be difficult to remove but some peel right off.

There are a few things you can do to ~encourage~ them to come off, such as letting the car sit in the hot sun for a couple of hours, warming the engine to heat the panels, and/or using a heat gun. You might need to use some 3M adhesive remover to remove any adhesive remnants.

Wouldn`t aluminium foil be more protective if one was to go that route ?

Actually this past summer I was annoyed with the stone guard and took the right rear one half off and it came off very easy . Looking at the fresh paint underneath it I stop and stuck it back on and you could not tell i even had pull it off . So I will not be afraid diy with this project . But will do entire clay n cut polish on the entire car before applying the new stone guard on

Beware that some of the aftermarket stone guards are of thinner material than the OEM versions.
