That would suck for me. I thought Hayward is an additional location? Haven't talked to them since I picked up the car after the top end rebuild 3 months ago.

Chris,
If you really want to dyno those "other" bypass pipes, let me know and I'll send you/Boris a set. I just bought a used set that I haven't installed yet.

Cool Once again, Boris is....

out there on the cutting edge of Technology. It is good to see the product delivers as promised.

Personally, I am too paranoid to touch the cats or anything to do with emissions, for the time being. No CEL yet, 70,000 miles....just wouldn't want to touch anything remotely related to CEL or any other fault for that matter. As mentioned, I am certain my fears are unfounded...but I admit to mild paranoia

The computer does 'learn' and make adjustments to maintain stoichiometric air/fuel ratio at idle and cruise conditions where the O2 sensor is still in the loop. However, at WOT (..wide-open throttle), the O2 sensor is by-passed, and the computer consults a table of factory hard-coded fuel-values, using the mass of air entering the engine (..a voltage supplied by the MAF) and the current RPM as lookups; there are no corrections available.

The bottom-line, the fuel-computer can make adjustments at idle and cruise, but it cannot adjust at WOT. If the air/fuel ratio at WOT is incorrect (..it should be around 12.5:1 for max power), someone must physically change those WOT values.

I'm running X-pipes and "sport" mufflers and the combo is awesome.
No dyno results to offer I'm afraid, but my butt says same low end with more upper end urgency.

My ears say there are few cars on the road that sound this good.

I would install an adjustable FPR and run it on the dyno at a couple of different settings. Might pick up several more HP (if not double your gain).

BTW- for those worried about "excessive" sound, I measured with an SPL meter from 6 feet back of my car and got 90db at idle and 111db at 5k rpm (with stock mufflers).

With "sport" mufflers I got 92 and 115. Damn sexy too.

Neither are too loud to my ear- YMMV.

And an 8HP & 3.8 cost how much? Even if it was just $1000 for everything installed and dyno'd, you would have paid $125.00 per hp and $263.15 per ft/lb of torque.

Since you probably have more than $1k invested in your exhaust you bought some really pricey HP & Torque.

No offense is meant but I'm very curious, 8hp & 3.8ft/lb's won't make such a great difference that you can blow any other 993 away at will, so what was the point beyond making $ for the exhaust guys?

The point is, that they got a great looking piece of equipment for their car.....which sounds great and keeps them legal. They got more power out of it to boot. Why would you pee in our wheaties like that? You mean to tell me you haven't spent money on your car for something that having found an obscure mathematical equation for, didn't make sense but gave you he end result you wanted? Like.....oh I don't know......rims that go for a couple grand a piece before the tire even gets put on. Or a new stereo when the old one worked.......or shift ***** when the old one wasn't worn out, common man.

Lets talk about a 3.8L upgraded motor.......work that math out and tell me how much $$/hp you get......not alot I bet you'll find.

Oh and lest we not forget the wonder ECU chip upgrade.......whats that get you? 5 hp (at best) for $700 +.......

Run 1: 237.5 hp
Run 2: 245.3 hp
Run 3: 248.9 hp

Post pipe install: 256.9 hp (i don't know how many runs they ran post install)

Bob - back to your point.... what is the optimal A/F ratio based on the graph i provided. And would you richen up the fuel ?

I'll be around on Saturday. Sunday I'll be doing some impossible things to a 993TT so pretty tied up until later in the evening.

I wanted to do some dyno runs on my 997. Is anyone at Devek tomorrow morning? Is that where you'll be?

Does anyone have contact info for Devek? I can't find them on the web or in the Yellowpages.

TIA,

MC

I was asking the original poster, not you, but thanks for your BS, it was really helpful.

Happy Holidays!
