Factory Comfort Seat Comparison? 993 v 996 v 986
Question for you guys that have sat in various OE seats.
I have the stock "comfort" seats and they fit me poorly. The seat bottom bolsters hit my hips in the wrong place. The back has very little lateral support and no lumbar support. My old 911 has the wonderful supportive '81-'84 sport seats. Great support in all the right places.
I've test driven a 993 with the vaunted hard back sport seats and frankly they're more style than support.
I see standard 996 and Boxster seats all the time on Ebay. It appears that Porsche resculpted the seats so the side bolsters fit on the side of the legs (for, you know, lateral support) more like the old seats. I wonder if the seat backs have any more lateral and lumbar support than the 993 seats do?
Thanks for any info.

I find the hard backed sport seats to be very comfy on drives shorter than 2 hours. That said, I drove the car for 21 hours, and my right leg felt like it was going to need aputation. The seat cushion side bolster damn near caused bed sores mid-thigh.

I don't dirve for that length of time often, but I too would like a seat that doesn't cripple me. Further, I noticed my **** moving around quite a bit on sharp turns while street driving - couldn't imagine a track event.

The seats in the 997 are really comfy (much better than 996, imho) - might want to see if those can be retrofit...
