Default 95 tippy steering wheel question

my tippy steering wheel did not come with tippy controls on it. Is it as easy as changing the wheel for one that has the controls or do i have to run the wires to? Has anyone done this mod and if not how about adding a paddle shifting kit? THKS

I have always thought that all 993's had Tippy controls on the wheel -- what is the build date of your car?

Maybe the PO changed the wheel?

the early models don't have them I think...you're really aren't missing anything..floor shifting is so much more fun....

Mine is a 95 and has the Tip "S" noted on the options which is the buttons on the wheel. I believe the early models could all be optioned with the "S" package if desired, only later did this become "standard".

IMHO you are not missing anything. I drive my tiptronic in manual mode 99.99 % of the time. The problem with the steering wheel buttons is it is easy (at least for me) to hit them accidentally. Nothing like see your RPM's jump without expecting it. I got rid of the tip steering wheel.

According to Porsche brochures and specification literatures, all 95' 993 (US) versions came with Tiptronic-S. Actual production of 993 began in 1994 and most of European and ROW didn't have Tiptronic-S in the beginning (ROW). Perhaps, your model is either imported or Canadian model?

I use the steering wheel paddle exclusively during DEs. For me, it is much easier to keep my hands on the wheel when shifting, than to drop one hand to the shift lever.
I shift with my right hand but occasionally, during quick steering inputs, I hit the left paddle in error. I am thinking of disconnecting the left paddle.
(GL - thanks for the TB.)
