prove it; it looks like a "2" to me as well. i was just thinking though that even if it is 19998 that you can't really let anyone test drive it or it will be >20k

Put it on Ebay and see what it commands for a price. You will reach more of a broader audience than this forum.

Dear Rennlisters,
Just for my curiosity, I've checked the Kelly Blue Book's suggested Retail Price for this (plain jane)white car and it came out to $32,385 for excellent condition... Just a thought!

On the other hand,
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/234268378.html
This is THE car with all the bells and whistles and to boot priced less than that plain jane!!!

Excuse me, but if the seller spent $4K for his new ROW M030, he overpaid. My brand new all Porsche parts complete ROW M030 suspension installed was $2K. No one (who knew better) has ever paid $4K to replace a stock set up for a new M030 suspension.

As for the price of the car, I hope you get every penny. I am happy to have the 993 market inflate.

Don't we all want the 993 market to inflate? If this guy gets 52K for a plain white 993, I'll tip my hat to him. I hope all the sellers asking ridiculous prices get them. That'll make my 96 C4 with 33K miles worth more whenever or if I ever sell it.

And consider, right now, if my car is worth at least $35K ish, that means I've retained about 60% of the value from when I bought it as a 2 year old car. How many 1996 toyotas, audis, etc are still getting 60% back!

I guess hoping that one dealer's view of market does not make a market. I seriously doubt anyone on this board would pay more that the high $30s for that car. Then again, maybe someone from Nigeria would be a buyer who wants to overpay and ask that the seller refund the difference.

Value is what someone will pay.

Yes, I like the 993 look better, and the sound better, but as used 997's drop in price (here's one in the 50's), low-mile 993's look VERY expensive for a car that's literally ten years older!
That 997 looks suspiciously like mglobe's old car. And if it is, it's that cheap for a reason...

Interesting that the Ebay dealer is in Houston which is where mglobe lives---hmmm.

Here is an excerpt from his post over on 997 forum.

In my 997. Motherf&%k! I'm sitting at a red light at the corner of Hillcroft & Bissonnet, and this guy just plows into me. I don't think he even hit his brakes. Knocked my head into the headrest so hard I've got a knot on my head and a nasty headache. My daughter was with me & has a headache too. She started crying immediately, because of the car. She loves it that much. The car, actually looks better than the guy's suburban, which was a mess. The impact caused us to hit the suburban in front of us, so both the front and back of my car got it. I can't tell how bad it is under the bumpers, but I'm pretty sure the front bumper is bent fairly bad, cause I couldn't get the towing hook threaded in. The engine starts, and then dies after about 20 secs. I had the car towed to the dealer (Momentum), and will have them inspect it in the AM.

To make matters just a little worse, the guy that hit me is the father of one of the girls on my daughter's soccer team. I'm going to have to look at him all season.

Anyone have any advice on diminished value?

As a previous 993 owner of a 95 993 and a current buyer I have folllowed the market for 4+ years. We do have an altitude problem in Denver that makes some people think Jake Plummer is a good starting QB. Maybe those people would also think $52k for a low mileage 1995 C2 is a great price. A spotless 95 993 C4 cab (14k mi) just went on eBay two weeks ago for $41,200. IMHO $52k is not in the ball park, even in Denver.

Group911 - seems like a nice car. If this may help as a barometer, we will be listing a 1997 993 Cab early this week with 26k on the clock - triple black, and we will sell it for $42,000 or $10,000 less than your ask. It does lack the suspension, that may make a difference. Best of luck with the sale.

Wow! That's quite an extrapolation to go from joking around to death threats...

Careful, Joe, or he'll think you're gonna drop on A-bomb on him. <<THIS IS A JOKE. IT'S WHAT I DO. BUT NOT FOR A LIVING. OBVIOUSLY.<<
