Strats don't break E strings! Only certain players do this (from over-enthusiasm), because they're such a blast to play. Think of Strats as the 911 of electric guitars (they do so much so well), and Pauls more of a V8 muscle car.

I do like Les Pauls a great deal too, though.

Bruce,
I don't play a strat..but I have been trying (on and off) to learn to play acoustic. I figured if I can play acoustic, it will make it easy to learn electric in terms of finger placement and accuracy. I've got a cheap takamini, but I'd love to have a Martin HD28VE, 911 of acoustics IMHO, an icon.
I saw this pitcure in an article on Johny Cash....you should see the expression on this man's face...pure determination...and the emotion just comming through crystal clear. He was playing with a broken e string, and you could tell that it wasn't slowing him down one bit. And so that's how I came up with this handle, it reminds me that if you approach life with that type of determination, you can accomplish anything.
Anyway, I'm actually not a big fan of country music. As a matter of fact, I don't really like most of it ....not that there's any thing wrong with that.. he-he! I'm just more into classic rock, but i definetely have huge respect for Johny's style and talent. The man is/was a legend after all.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Bruce...what year is that Les paul in your avitar? I have had one for about 30 years now that I thought was a 1971...based on serial #, stamping, etc. In light of my latest research, I find that I have volume/tone pots dated 12th week of 1974. So I am now about positive that it is a 1974 model. Mine is a Cherryburst Deluxe w/ the wider (not mini-humbicker) "T-Bucker" pickups...they are the next ones made after the original PAFs. LOVE my Les Paul.

My goldtop is an '89, "pre-historic" as they call 'em. Made before the Historic Division was official. Les Paul does it all, baby! I also have a 1956 Junior.
Just got back from playing the R&R Hall of Fame. Check out this segment on the Today Show (this was before the HoF gig but related to it): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvwVPYiJmcg

Looks same as mine - Midnight blue.
Do all midnight blue, iris blue, xx blue 993s also have a blue over gray interior?
I'm looking at buying a 993 in 1-2 years and contemplating what color I want to buy. Right now, i like them all.
