Default MY02 Wheels-02 only?

First I want to thank all of the forum members for all their help and advice. I just purchased a ' 95 cabriolet and the advice and info I found here was (and is) invaluable. If this forum were around when I had my '86 and '96 I might still have them. I am amazed at how over-dependent the Porsche dealer techs are on their computers, even more so than 5 years ago. Thank you all.

Anyway my query is this: Are the 18" MY02 Carrera wheels I see on member cars only on the '02s or are they the same ones from like '02 through '05? Apparently the 997 offset is quite a bit different than the 996 and I am trying to make sense of the Carrera wheels (this is partially a result of the dealer missing a 4" crack on a cup wheel when they did they PIP, guess they didn't know the fault code on the OBD for "cracked rim" but I was going to put new rims on anyway).
Thanks again

The 02 thru 04 is the same wheel. The 997 came with a new style 5 spoke. Not sure of et.

the 997 wheel is a little different and has a different offset. when i called wheel enhancement about the fit, they told me the fronts would require spacers.

i went with the MY 02s and no spacers.

Thank you both. Now to find a set of MY 02s. On Ebay they are getting to the point 3 piece wheels are not that much more. Tire Rack has a great clearance price on 19" SSR 3 piece for the 993 but I think 19 may be too much of a good thing for a 993. Decisions decisions.

Cool Hen's teeth...

The MY 2002 996 wheels are not easy to find. They are a light as the Turbo hollow spokes...I would recommend Wheel Enhancement in Culver City, CA...John Brown.

There are aftermarket copies of these wheels out there. Be sure you know what you are getting. Sounds like you already know this based on your price comment.
As I understand it, these Italian copies are inferior quality... being Italian, this disappoints me on many levels.

Default Good point...

The MY 2002 996 wheels will have part numbers. Pull this off and then run them on Pelican Parts parts search list. That is a quick way to find out if they are Porsche wheels (OEM by BBS), or something else.

i bought mine from ernie's alloys in miami. i called after hearing good things about him and he had the wheels i was looking for, with tires for a great price. i think he does a lot of business with take-offs and sells as packages. his number is 305-687-0028.

he also sells on ebay...check under seller 2002wheelman.

good luck.

Hi Guys,

What's the part no. for the MY02 carrera rims? Can anyone post close-up pics of any identification marks / numbers on these MY02 rims?

Thanks in advance.
