How did Jay Leno spin the GT at Talledaga?

A friend of mine was the Porsche Tech on that shoot and was the first to see Jay in the pits after the spin. He said he was as white as a sheet and when he got out of the car didn't say a thing. Once the cameras showed up he was all jokes again, but he saw death in the face!
From what I hear, he was going flat out and took too high a line into the corner, the car was pushing up to the wall and he lifted off=spin. He was lucky not to hit a thing.

A CGT was taken round an airfield track on tv show Top Gear in the UK by 'The Stig' who is an anonymous (and pretty handy) racing driver who takes a different car round the track every week.
They showed the fastest lap and the comment was made that it was the only lap when the driver didn't spin.

Driving the superspeedways isn't as simple as it looks. In the banking, the forces exerted on the car significantly alter the way the car handles, changing a car that handles well on a road course into an ill handling piece of crap. Add to that the fact that your visual perception is screwed up by the banking and you have a recipe for what happened to Leno.
I haven't driven Talladega at speed, but Michigan was a stop two years in a row back when I ran One Lap of America and for me, the most disconcerting thing was the fact that when I was on the banking I had to look out of the upper left hand corner of the windshield to see where the track was going. It was almost like trying to steer through a steep uphill curve at 150 MPH. That kind of visual input, plus the forces on the car, made it a somewhat humbling experience (For me at least).
