If you are worried about that then you can install the small shields like those on TTs....I have supercups on my 98 cab and have a set of these in the garage that I need to install...one day...

Gert has the shields listed - http://www.carnewal-europe.com/main.htm
Go to exhausts, then heat shields for rear bumper, about $60. Standard fit on wide bodied cars.

Talking of wide bodied, does anyone know whether orders are being taken yet for the WB 993 tips GB?

Default bumper okay... thus far...

fwiw:

mine are a finger's width away but the d.s. tip is about 1/2 a finger space on the outermost edge... does get hot, but no melting or softness yet. several runs & some hot traffic experience thus far...

may do the shields if i see anything odd. i prefer it w/o. (cleaner look).

nothin' yet...

On the driver side, outter gap is about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch regardless how I positioned the tip. I double checked the muffler but it seems to be in place. I'll just have to keep an eye on it.

This thread is moving further down the pages, so just thought i'd bring it back up with the news that according to an e-mail reply I had from Josh a few days ago, they are working on the tips for the wide bodied cars, so hopefully won't be too long before he takes orders.

One of the few times I've been jealous of you narrow bodied guys

Just got my BO's from Josh. There are numerous dents along the outside edge of the tips. I haven't heard anyone else mention these. Am I being too picky or did I get a bad set? Both the tips have them.

Sorry about the pic quality. I couldn't get the camera to focus on the dent

The more I look at these, the worse it gets. The "slash" cut is different on both tips. One is about 3/16" longer than the other and the angle from the mount is different.

I think a set of mine may have been a hair different in length (I didn't measure), but when installed showed no noticable variation whatsoever. I just wanted them *on*!

Odd. I don't recall mine to have been different, but I just yanked them out of the box, shot a couple of pictures and installed them.

I'd link my pics but blogspot is down right now.. :/ If anyone get's the itch to see them... follow the link in my sig.... (but wait 10 min.. or so the website says).

#1 Try cleaning the edge. I wiped off the black overspray around the outer lip, and they looked a lot better. Are they perfect....no, but they are only tips, and for the price I think they are awesome.
#2 In your other pick, the lengths look pretty close, just the angle that they are sitting at is different. They will swivel a little when you mount them, so I don't think you'll have a problem.
Remember, these tips are over 10 times less expensive than the factory tips!

it's $50.... not $700

don't look @ 'em anymore. email josh & i'm sure he'll make good.

tbh mine look better everyday to me. what a great group buy! still can't believe for the price of dinner w/o drinks.... big o's yo!

btw: still no signs of any melting. think i'll get another set to paint black.
