painting my ducts...
hey guys~
just recieved my ducts ( preferred the ones w/o the light ) & was looking into d i y painting them. (cab is black, found codes: L741 & L747 as colors)
i did a search to try & find a post re: this but have come up empty. gotta' link?
anyone have any luck spraying their own parts? also, what source did you use for paint? fwiw: seem to remember someone saying a shop canned their paint into a spray-can for them... which would be great, but i do have a sprayer if need be.
as always... thanx for all input

I would let them be painted by a shop.
They have FLEX substance for primar and Laquer.
It catches best on plastic, and I'm sure will cost a lot less than Bottling paint and DIY.
IMHO

Steve I love your ducts I seldom even drive at night can you tell me the part # and where you got them Ruf? In my opinion they are what should have been equipped on the car in the first place. -Paul

Thanks for the comments.
I believe they are sold by "Better Bodies"... I got mine from eBay. They are very inexpensive, having no light assembly and wiring.

I would add another recommendation for paintscratch.com. I've used their paint several times to match my Guards Red - and previously owned Black. They will add a flex additive to their paint. You can buy it in a prepackaged aerosol can. If just doing the ducts I bet you would only need one small can plus a small can of clearcoat. Their paint is Dupont and the clear they sell you can also get at autoparts stores.
I've done my entire front bumper + RS splitters and my RS wing, along with color blending even for the filled in front bumperette holes, license plate holes, and windshield washer nozzle holes. The stuff just blended perfectly. Look at my avatar and sig pictures... the whole front bumper is paintscratch.com paint, painted in my garage.

I just got some paint from paintscratch.com. I will be DIY painting my ducts this weekend. I will report back to let ya know how it went. I just have the paint, and clearcoat.
Anyone know where you can get cheap bumper plugs that are not painted yet?

Kenny, hit an auto parts store and look in the misc OEM parts rack. You know, the bubble packed stuff?
The BumperPlugs I bought earlier this year are just push in (serrated shaft) plastic caps. Similar to some upholstery or body plugs. Hopefully this makes sense.
Not slamming BumperPlugs but if I were painting other stuff I'd do the same...
