Question No spiders with OE pads?

Doing front brakes this weekend and I ordered the OE Textars from Stoddard after reading many threads here. I was surprised to see they came without spiders. They do have a full size anti-squeal plate on the back of each pad, though.

Do the spiders have a separate part number? Have they been phased out entirely?

Spiders (Anti-Squeal pads) are ordered separately. Some guys don't bother with them. I suppose you could add them at a later date if you do have a squealing issue.

The part numbers go something like this:
965 351 096 00
964 351 096 01
965 352 096 01
964 352 096 00

I would check PET to be sure.

I thought I ordered them, but alas, they were not part of the goodies I got. So, I will be going bare, too.

I recently replaced my pads with Hawk HPS's that don't use the spiders. They are perfectly quiet.

Meh. I guess I'll try without. Stoddard got back to me and the spiders are $4.27 each. But I'm doing the rotors/pads this weekend and I'm not paying for FedEx. I assume if they are squeaky I can pull them apart and add them later.

They squeak right now with stock pads, but that might have something to do with 29.5mm thick rotors and almost worn out pads.

Should be fine without. I run them that way.

I changed my front rotors/brakes this weekend. Its very easy to remove the spiders from the old pads and transfer them over.

Squeeling brakes is a personal pet peeve, and I figure since I'm there now and don't want to have to open it all back up again, I'll just re-use them.

I used Textars without spiders, and no squeals here.

same here. smeared some high-temp grease on the back of the OEM pads, put it all back together, and never a squeak in ~9K mi.

No spiders here too (and no steel backing plates either). Those spiders makes brake pad changes pain in the ***.

The metal backing is not new but the lack of paint would be. I would call the dealer and ask them to check the other pads they have in stock. The old coating may not have been compatible with the new ELV regulations? Or is the metal backing plate shiny as in painted glossy?
