Default run-in RSR's

I dont know if its me or the mufflers, but when I first got my RSR's installed I thought it was going to make my head explode, so much louder, deeper and - around the 2500 rev mark - resonant they were.

These days, however, I find myself mildly aroused by the sound, and to some extent, wonder whether the note has somehow "run-in".

So obviously, either I am conditioned to the sound, or the new muffler system, has by some miracle of the metal, changed its sound. Clearly, it is in my head, but I am just wondering if anyone else has had similar thoughts.

...by the way, if anyone is thinking of getting RSR I highly recommend them, especially as a way of aurally assaulting jay-walkers who get in your road - just shift down and give a nice big blast as you rip the pants off their thighs with your side-view mirror!!! (no matter how many times I nearly run down some road-arrogant Hong Kong pedestrian it still brings a BIG smile to my face!)

If anything I heard they actually got louder when run in?

Had mine for a couple of weeks, no discernable difference.

Perhaps your ears have "run-in"?

I know I have diminished hearing in a range of frequencies. Driving cars with loud exhausts for years will do that to you.

Good point Jeff, I know that after 20 years, it's much harder to hear my wife. I see her lips moving but........

Mine have been installed for a few months and seem to have become a bit more resonant but I love the way they sound vs the stock bischoff's.

The middle throttle response is definately better with the RSR's vs stock so again, My hats off to Robin!

I have had mine on since 2001, and they sound better with age, I feel.

I like my Mille Miglias and immediately noticed a difference....a big difference. I've followed Coleman in his '95 with the RSR's from Robin (I think thats who did em) and they sound good but they seem to have sortof a "hollow" sound to them at idle. The Mille Miglias are super light compared to the stock mufflers, way nicer finish (I think they're all stainless), only complaint is a bit of resonance around 3K... but then again.....I think I kinda like the resonance.....sets off lots of car alarms Have been considering converting my stock ones to RSR's to see what they're like and maybe sell them if I like the Mille Miglias better.

As the insides rust they get a bit louder! ;-) Try 100 cell cats if you want a big boost to your sound. See my putfile site on the signature.

Cheers,

I know that the sound on my motorbike pipes changed as they carboned up. Maybe it's the same thing?

Mine got warmer and louder after a while. Be patient, it will set off car alarms soon.

I've had mine for a couple months now (I think), but I haven't really noticed much of a change. Still love 'em though.

This is a video/audio clip of mine if you click on the RSR Exhaust listing in my signature.

That's something I miss from my 3.2. I've had my RSRs a few years and I'm still waiting...
