I cut the entire sunroof inner structure out of the car by removing the spot welds. From there I installed the skin as shown above and there is no additional strips or structure on the inside of the car, it is smooth.

Delete it!

Way more cool and if done preffesionally, the re-sale value (if you're concerned about it) will be higher in later years.

Thanks for the pictures Geoffrey... looks a bit more involved than I'm willing to tackle right now, but probably the correct way to go. Anyone else use a cf panel?

Cheers, Mark.

Welllllll I just met with Robert of the body shop, Autocrafters in Manassas, VA. I told him I wanted to do the sunroff delet. He called Porsche (I don't know where/who) to get price and avilability for a new roof from Porsche. This roof it turns out would have to be made, yes made!, in Germany and would take eight months to get. Delete option.... not an option. To find a used roof, and carefuly remove it for reuse would involve too much work and make proper window alignment, etc.... for a race car, not a problem until it rains.

Anyway, I will be keeping the sunroof as that roof could be delivered in as little as ten days at extra cost. Robert is busy right now so the roof will be shipped standard methods. Filling the sunroof opening is an option, but I don't think I will go that route.

Bummmmer....

Mr Bock,

Hate to query your shop, but here in the UK (and I presume mainland Europe) 993's with sunroofs are the exception rather than the rule - based on most of the 993's I see do not have sunroofs (not scientific I admit), so I assume the factory has greater access to non sunroof roofs for the european markets versus sunroof roofs, so I would ask your shop to double check.

Just my tenpence worth!

John
