Porsche Pocher 993 models
A few years ago I came across a new in the box Porsche Pocher 993 model. I tried to buy this at auction, but came up short. Does anyone know of any sources or outlets where these can be bought? I've heard they have been discontinued and are somewhat difficult to locate, but any ideas would be appreciated.

I've got a 94 blue cab (1:18) that is very detailed and hard to find in the size. My girlfriend works for Mattel where she got it for me (real sweetheart). I'll check with her if they still make Porsches or at least get an address for you. I have other sport models but this one is exceptional. ( I guess I'm prejudice, afterall it is a PORSCHE).

I have two, one built and one unbuilt. To be honest, its not a very good model especially for the money.

You can get them at auction, just do a search on Ebay, they come up opretty regularly. They are crap, detail-wise compared to the old Pocher models though there is a growing market in "dress-up" kits that add back some of the detail that should have been there - see www.ebay.de, the German site. I may have to revisit this.
For the same money you could get far better value with a rare Tamiya 1:10th scale radio control 993GT2 which, again, you can get second hand or else find a rare unmade one. The shape on these is pretty much perfect and they make a great display model plus you can always have a drive. I've got a pretty good second hand one and an unopened kit which I keep meaning to build. The sad bit here is that once you start looking into these you discover all the tune-up parts that you can buy....
Cheers,
David

Jim, my 94 cab is 1:24 scale, very detailed and made by Matchbox Toys LTD., Swift Park, Old Leicester Road,Rugby, CV21 1DZ (United Kingdom). Sorry, I don't have a phone, but try searching the internet for Tyco Toys, Inc, Mount Laurel, New Jersey, 08054.

The UT Models 1:18th scale has pretty good detail and the Germans even sell "tune-up" kits for them to make them into racers. Again, have a browse on www.ebay.de

Hi there guys.
I agree that the Pocher kit isnt as highly detailed as a gold series exoto 1:18th model, however I believe it is perfectly proportioned and given its 1:8th size definately the most impressive item in my Porsche model collection.
I also like the Tamiya GT2 (have 2 of these - one with the full carbon race chassis), but for static display the Pocher wins hands down - there simply inst anyone who has not made a positive comment on seeing it!!
One of the things I like teh most about mine is it was one of 100 painted by Porsche for Poscher (well so the story goes) in Midnight metallic blue with classic grey interior - the exact same as my car.
There are three hundered parts to these cars. I purchased all the tremour etched "transkits" which detail the interior, brakes, wheels, and full engine kit. This adds another 300 parts. When Im an old man Ill find some time to finish her off!
PS. The chassis of teh stand kit is steel and the overall weight of the completed model is around 10kg!!!
Enjoy some pics...
Cheers

Hi Macca,
It looks great from the outside but I have to say I still find the interior disappointing. How fiddly are the detail kits; I notice that you haven't fitted them yet. I'm kind of tempted to get a silver one (even though it's arctic and not polar silver!) anyway but only if the trans kits will make a decent difference.

Hi caveman,
My model could have been better. I made it in one evening and probably should have taken some time to remove the plastic bur etc in the interior.
The traskits have awesome detail - but they look fiddly to fit. I will also have to dismantle the car again to do this. I believe to apply all the kits I have will take months! Im waiting till i have lots of time (retired?).
I had a case made for mine too.eally is a great centre piece and I suspect reasonable a long term investment. Look at the prices of mint Tamiya 001 RSR 934 R/C cars from the 1970s! $1700 USD +.

Very cool in the case! I may have to get one... I've got two Tamiya GT2s. One is a second hand one in reasonable condition that I have doen a full strip down and clean up and the other is a "new-in-box" one that has never been built. I also have a pile of upgrades that I keep thinking might come in useful!

I have midnight blue metalic and grey interior also, but can't find models in that color, mine is actually grey and blue interior, 2 tone. Anyone know where I can find one in that color?
