Default German Autobahn on History Channel

Tonight at 7pm CT, a one hour program on the German Autobahn. I think it's been on before. If I remember correctly, it covers the design, construction, and some cars driving at speed.

Maybe they'll say if 993 owners should keep their engine trays on for extended high speed commuting between major cities as well?

You know, if it wasn't for Rennlist I'd be lost. Thanks for the heads up as I was just about to miss it.

In fact, they provide road signs saying "put engine tray on"

Seen this show twice. Love the opening scene. Nightime test of a 996 RUF, up to 212mph with 2-person camera crew in the back, no helmet!!

I have not seen the TV show. Anyways, I believe this is a myth to some extent. War supply was usually transported via railways.

Well, the autobahn was sometimes used as a airplane runway with airplanes hidden in sourrounding forests.

In fact, there are still segments existing which obviously are runways and which were constructed during the cold war. On my way between Zurich and Stuttgart I pass such a segment.

Best regards,

Felix

I missed the show last night, but caught it once before. The RUF sequences are incredible. As for use for the military, I can't remember what the show says, maybe somebody who watched it can help on that question. But I thought they said Hitler constructed the Autobahn as a demonstration of German engineering prowess(?). Can anybody help on that question?
