It's unfortunate that the 2 gentlemen were killed and even more so if one turns out to be an off duty CHP..........it goes to show that no matter how much knowlege and experience you may have, a high performance car can bite you in a heartbeat...........drive safe!

I wonder if the CHP guy was the drivers "get out of jail card" in case they got pulled over for wreckless driving. I bet those guys do that all the time. Not only a testament to powerful cars but also how power corrupts - the CHP knew he was above the law and paid his life for it. Thank God no kids were playing the grass or pedestrians were around since it looks like a backroad..

"Professional Courtesy" is what it is called when a cop gets a pass for breaking the law. It is a shame that this happened but as you said, power does indeed corrupt. I'll bet that this gets a whole lot less press than the Swedish fellow who is currently cooling his heels in LA county jail....

Unbelievable! The people aren't even identified yet (easy to see why they need to use finger prints), but some have them convicted and want to take away the families benefits? Sad people!

I apologize for any offense from my comments - they were not intended to be personal to any rennlister.
I admit Im being presumptious - maybe the testarossa was maintaining a safe speed for conditions when those guys hit a rouge oil spot in the road.
This story struck a nerve with me. About 1/2 mile from the house, a guy rolled his truck, collided with an oncoming vehicle and landed onto a little league field while kids were playing soccer. I was out watering the plants when I heard the screeching, metal "bomb" sound and crumbing then women hollering and screaming. The sound is burned into my brain. Luckily no kids were hurt. The police downloaded his speed from his ECU - 105 in a 45 next to populated athletic fields....
Ive been known to exceed the speed limit, so lets not start a flame war on this (I can just search the enzo thread for that). You have to think about the others around you and conditions before you hit the throttle.
Seriously - did not mean to insult anyone on the board!!!

Oceanside? I live off of Rancho Del Oro for 2 years. Now in RP.

I think so, vaguely. I know that sort of driving is not an isolated incident in Oceanside.
We watched numerous accidents at the intersection of Rancho Del Oro and 76 - we were in those new townhomes from April 03 to this last august.
