Dropped fuse
At my first attempt to do a little DIY, I pulled out a fuse from the front box only to fumble and drop it behind the fuel tank.....doh . its not a big deal, but any great ideas on how to get it out, short of removing the fuel tank? This is probably a first for this forum.

You could test another fuse to determine if the metal is ferrous, and if so, fish around with a little magnet. A long shot, but you might get lucky. Otherwise, just leave it where it is. It isn't big enough to make a rattle that you will ever hear, in that location, and there is nothing down there that it is going to damage.

Ha! I did the same thing! I felt so good about resolving why my targa top and windows were dead, that Murphy's Law jumped in and grabbed the fuse right out of the fuse holder, and it fell to the only possible place where I couldn't retrieve it. I tried a magnet and couldn't get it. Mine has been behind the fuel tank for about a year now, no rattle or anything.

I've been doing fuel pump replacement research lately and I seem to recall that someone said that the area behind the gas tank runs down to the fuel pump area. If so, and if you are lucky, you could go from under the car and remove the fuel pump access cover and maybe find it there.
Or... I could remember wrong and be way off base.

Another long shot.... if you can get a long thin stick or maybe a coat hanger wire with sticky tape wraped on the end and also wraped sticky side out, you might just grab the fuse and lift it out. Or if the fuse is good, you will always have a spare....

Do you have mechanic's pick up tools there? Not the magnetic type for this job, the metal in the fuse is aluminium.
They are a flexible tube with a spring loaded 3 prong claw that is operated from the other end.
If I find one I'll post a pic.

Check out my DIY post for evaporator replace. There is a pic that shows everything removed (including fuel pump). I think the advice that it dropped down to the fuel pump is good. Remove the access coved and you will probably find it.
I personally would not bother, it sounds like a lot of work and it so deep in that area that you will never hear it rattle around. When I did the evaporator job, I found all kinds of stuff from POs down there. I never heard rattling or anything. If I remember proberly, the metal is coated so you wont get metal on metal sou8nd anyway.
