Default Mid-rise lifts...

Does anyone have experience with mid-rise lifts?

How often do you use the lift? What types of maintencance do you perform on the car that makes the lift worth the $1,500 to $2,500 cost? What brands are recommended?

Any other observations, issues or comments would be appreciated.

I use mine all the time. I was working on my door pocket cover and it was much more comfortable to work from comfortable height. I pulled a wheel this morning to take a couple suspension photos, I don't think it took five minutes to get the car up and the wheel off. I have the Eagle Midrise. Its is not practical but what a luxury. I think Harbor Freight has the best price and it looks identical to the Eagle.

Excuse the mess!

Great for a lot of generic maintenance activities like oil changes, brakes, suspension, wheels on / off. Bad for engine / transmission removal, shifter work.

My garage is only 8 foot so a midrise is about perfect. The photo I posted only shows about 1/3 of the lift's travel.

Thank you.

Very Kuul... my new garage is either an 8' or 9' ceiling. I'm used to having a 10' ceiling.

I do have to be a bit careful to avoid the Garage door opener when the position of the car is reversed on the lift.

They lay on top. Very portable for a 1000 pounds.

I just bought one, best price I was able to find was $1145. It is just like all the others out there. I went to pick it up so I could see it, otherwise I think he said $120 to ship. I had to rent a portable engine hoist to get it out of my truck. Email me if you want more info.

Are there any issues with positioning lowered cars over the jacking points? Are adapters required to match the lift with the jacking points?

Thanks for the pics and comments.

You would need to put down some 2x10's probably 2 stacked for clearance, like jw97C2S did. It comes with all other adapters, the arms on the lift are adjustable. I bought some hockey pucks to put at the jacking points on the car. All in all it's quite nice.

Rav, Yes there are issues with lowered cars. I use double 12' 2x12" lumbar to clear the lift pads by an inch or so.
Every one has a ramp of some sort. One fellow has his imbedded in the floor - that is how I will do it in my next garage
